Chapter 791 Extremely Nervous
They kept chatting.
Ava pushed through her discomfort and chatted happily with Scarlett.
Scarlett's memory was a bit fuzzy.
But she always talked about Ava and Alexander, reminiscing about their great relationship.
Hearing those old stories, Ava felt a mix of emotions, remembering the good times with Alexander.
It was sad how things had turned out, both for their relationship and for Scarlett.
But in a way, it was good. Scarlett only remembered the happy times and not what happened later.
The sad part was Scarlett had forgotten she was about to have a grandchild.
William kept smiling, listening intently, his gaze gentle.
But inside, he felt like he was about to burst.
Hearing about Ava and Alexander's past made him insanely jealous.
To him, Alexander was just lucky to have Ava for ten years. He didn't deserve it.
But now, Alexander had lost Ava.
William wasn't sure if Alexander knew Ava was pregnant. If he did, why hadn't he reacted?
If he didn't, it meant Mia and Scarlett hadn't told him.
Now Scarlett had dementia and didn't remember, but would Mia really not tell her son that Ava was pregnant?
William's puzzled gaze fell on Mia.
He worried that Ava and Alexander might meet today.
By then, Ava's belly would give away her pregnancy.
So before leaving home with Ava, he had pleaded bitterly, tying to keep her from leaving him, to get her promise.
But he hadn't expected them to meet here instead of at the Mitchell Estate.
Only Mia and Scarlett were here.
Mia looked up and met William's gaze.
There was a subtle tension between them.
William suddenly felt panicked and quickly looked away.
'What's with her? Why is she looking at me like that?' William thought.
He'd rather Mia stare at him with hatred.
"I need to go to the restroom," Scarlett said, standing up.
"Mom, I'll take you," Mia offered.
"Let me." Ava stood up, giving Mia a pleading look.
Ava knew she couldn't do much for Scarlett, only this small thing.
Mia nodded. "Alright then."
Ava smiled, walked over, and supported Scarlett. "Grandma, I'll help you."
"You really like calling me Grandma, don't you?"
"Yes, my own grandma passed away early, so I want to call you Grandma. Would you mind?"
"Of course not," Scarlett smiled kindly. "I'm happy to have a granddaughter like you."
They chatted and laughed as they walked to the restroom.
Only Mia and William were left in the room.
The atmosphere was extremely awkward.
Mia's hands were on her knees, hidden under the table, sweating and nervous.
She didn't know what to say. After thinking for a long time, she finally spoke, "How has Ava been lately?"
She could only use this to start the conversation. She couldn't directly show concern for him; William would definitely be suspicious.
"She's doing well. I'll take good care of her. I would never hurt her like your son did."
William hated Alexander. He really hated him.
"How is Alexander?" William asked.
Mia forced a smile. "He's doing well."
Thinking about how they were half-siblings, now competing for the same woman, Mia felt very uneasy.
"Really?" William felt a bit disappointed.
'Alexander is doing well? Why can't he just die?' William thought.
