Chapter 807 Unable to Refuse

Felix poured a glass of water. "Mr. Mitchell," he said, placing it on the table. "You haven't eaten or drunk anything all day. Have some water."

He didn't bring coffee, worried it would keep Alexander up at night. It was getting dark.

Alexander glanced at the time. "Why haven't you left work yet?"

Felix replied, "Mr. Mitchell, how can I leave when you haven't?"

"It's okay, you can go home," Alexander said.

"Alright. By the way." Felix remembered. "Ms. Thompson called, asking about your condition."

Alexander frowned. "Really? What did you tell her?"

"I said you were fine, no problems," Felix replied.

Alexander nodded. "If she asks again, just say the same thing. Don't say too much."

"Got it," Felix said.

Alexander grabbed his coat and left. As he drove, he suddenly didn't know where to go. Home felt empty, just him in a big bed.

The city was huge, but it felt like there was no place for him. Unconsciously, he drove to the hospital where Madison was staying.

Madison reminded him of Ava—the way she spoke, her emotions. But he knew she wasn't Ava. He figured he just missed Ava too much.

Since he was there, he decided to go in and take a look. When he arrived at the ward, Madison had just finished dinner. Her face lit up when she saw him.

"Mr. Mitchell, you're here," Madison said, surprised he came so soon. She thought he might have been lying about visiting.

Seeing her expectant eyes, Alexander was momentarily stunned. 'She's practically Ava's twin,' he thought. 'Is this a coincidence or...'

He stepped forward. "How are you feeling?"

"I'm alright," Madison said. "The caregivers here take good care of me. Mr. Mitchell, have you had dinner?"

Alexander was about to say he hadn't but didn't want to complicate things. "I've eaten," he said.

"That's good. I've just eaten too. Can we have a meal together next time?"

Noticing her forwardness, Alexander frowned slightly. Sensing his change, Madison quickly added, "Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to cling to you. I just said it casually. You don't have to eat with me."

Staring at her face, so similar to Ava's, Alexander's heart ached. He almost couldn't breathe. He forced a smile. "When you're better, we can have a meal together."

Madison asked, "Mr. Mitchell, what's wrong? Did something happen to you?"

"I'm fine," Alexander said. "Maybe I'm just a bit stressed from working all day."

"Yes," Madison said. "You are indeed very busy, managing such a big company every day. It must be very stressful."
