Chapter 299 - Devise a Plan

Ava Anderson found it hard to reconcile the previously enraged William Bennett with the now despondent, fragile, and helpless man before her.
Yet, they were one and the same.
Even a man like William Bennett had moments of uncontrollable emotion and utter irritability.
And undoubtedly moments of deep sorrow too.
"Ava, can you help me think this through?" William Bennett raised his head and looked at her earnestly.
Ava Anderson nodded eagerly, "I'll help you, just hold on, let me think this through."
She took it seriously.
William Bennett had helped her so much; now that she finally had a chance to help him, she certainly couldn't shirk the responsibility.
If she could help bring him romantic success, she would also feel more at peace, not owing him so much.
"Maybe start off as friends, just befriend her, don't think about pursuing her yet. Treat her seriously, care for her, and be comfortably present in her life. I believe she will gradually recognize your good qualities."
This was the best method Ava Anderson could think of.
"Really?" A hint of disbelief seemed to flicker in William Bennett's eyes. "Do you really think that's the best way to go about it?"
Ava Anderson nodded, "Yes. Will, just give it a try. Since you said she's not ready to move on, then don't force your way in. Give her some time to digest everything. In the meantime, remain by her side as a friend, not too close, and just care for her appropriately. I'm confident you'll get a good result."
William Bennett's eyes seemed to sparkle, "Ava, thank you. If that day really comes, I will definitely thank you properly."
"Don't be so formal with me. Just invite me for a celebratory drink when the time comes. But if the baby isn't born yet, then I can't drink."
She looked down, gently touching her belly.
Every time, her eyes filled with happiness.
William Bennett's gaze fell on her abdomen; he almost forgot she was carrying that man's child.
If the baby could make Ava happy, then that was good too.
As long as she was happy, nothing else mattered.
William Bennett had papers scattered all around.
One sheet lay beneath Ava Anderson's feet, and she bent over to pick it up.
William Bennett awkwardly said, "Sorry, I'll have someone clean this up right away."

Ava Anderson unintentionally glanced at the content on the paper, "So you lost the Evergreen Heights Residences Project in the Coastal District. That area has hundreds of thousands of people, and it's also an industrial hub."

"You know about this project!" William Bennett asked.

Ava Anderson replied, "I've heard of it, and I've gathered some information for my studies before. No wonder you're so upset; it's a big project."

William Bennett sighed, "What's done is done. We were well-prepared this time, but we still miscalculated. The competition got more insider information than we did—they must have spent a lot of money on lobbying. These things happen, and we were negligent."

During this period, he had indeed slacked off at work. The staff had their responsibilities, but he wasn't entirely without fault either.

Going back, he would face criticism from his father.

Ava Anderson said, "Which company managed to take a project from Blue Sky Group? You guys are a powerful, well-established conglomerate with years of experience; wouldn't it have been a good choice to have you handle the project?"

William Bennett answered, "Wisdom Future Group. They've achieved quite a lot in recent years."

"Wisdom Future Group?" Ava Anderson seemed to recall something.
