Chapter 1073 Just the Beginning
William knew he was powerless to change the situation. If he didn't sign, Ava definitely wouldn't let it go.
He thought he could buy some time, but Ava's resolve only grew stronger.
In the end, William picked up the pen. "I can sign, but before that, I want to ask you something."
"What is it?"
"You said earlier that if I signed, you would still be my friend. Is that true?"
Ava responded, "Yes."
"That means we would still see each other, and I could still see Sunny, right?"
"As long as you don't pester me and just be a normal friend, I won't stop you from seeing Sunny."
Ava had seen how much William cared for Sunny. She couldn't prevent him from seeing Sunny.
"We would go back to being friends like before we got married, right?"
Ava nodded. "Yes."
As long as she could get divorced, anything was fine.
After some hesitation, William signed his name.
Ava breathed a sigh of relief, took the divorce agreement, and said, "Thank you."
She didn't expect him to sign so quickly.
"Ava, you said we would still be friends, so I signed. I hope you won't lie to me."
Ava nodded. "I won't lie to you."
After signing the divorce agreement, they went to the court to finalize the divorce, making it official.
Outside the courthouse, Ava looked at the judgment in her hand and couldn't help but feel that time had flown by.
William stared at the judgment in his hand, stunned.
Ava spoke, "William, you're free now."
"And you too. You and Alexander will..."
"Don't mention him," Ava interrupted. "Even after divorcing you, I won't get back with him. I didn't divorce you to be with him."
Hearing this, William was skeptical, but he finally smiled faintly. "I understand. I won't bring it up again."
"William, I'm heading back now since I need to get back to Sunny. You should go home too." With that, Ava turned to leave.
"Can I still contact you?" William asked.
Ava turned back and smiled. "Yes."
William's sorrowful expression also turned into a smile.
After Ava completely left, his smile gradually faded, and he got into the car with a cold expression.
After driving home, William walked into the hall, looking lost.
Vicky came up to him. "William, you're back. How did it go with Ava today?"
"We got divorced," William said, his head down, eyes vacant.
Vicky didn't know how to react upon hearing the news.
"Are you all happy now?" He looked up at Vicky. "I divorced my cousin."
"William, I'm sorry."
"You don't need to apologize to me." William suddenly laughed. "Luckily, I didn't do anything wrong. But next time, don't hide things from me."
Vicky nodded. "I won't hide anything from you next time."
"Go tell Brandon that I'm divorced. I'm a bit tired and will go rest."
William walked up the stairs step by step, his back heavy.
Vicky watched him, her eyes filled with confusion and unease. It seemed that William was lifeless.
Back in his room, William lay on the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling.
He murmured, "You all are trying to make my life miserable."
A cold smile appeared on his lips. "If that's the case, then no one will have it easy."
So what if he divorced Ava? Divorce didn't mean the end.
Everything was just beginning.
