Chapter 589 The Human Heart Was A Mystery
Upon hearing what Brandon said, Ava couldn't shake off a sense of unease. She thought something felt off. She recalled, "Once, I went to William's company and saw him lose his temper at a subordinate. The way he looked at that moment really scared me. He was completely different from the gentle person I knew."
"And then?" Brandon pressed, "How did you feel at that moment? Were you just scared?"
"Well..." Ava said, "I was indeed a bit frightened, but when I thought about it, who doesn't lose their temper sometimes? So, I didn't dwell on it. I just hoped he wouldn't get so angry again; it's not good for his health."
Brandon nodded. "Alright, I understand."
"I don't understand why you're suddenly telling me this. Is there something about William that I don't know?" Ava asked. She felt the words meant more than Brandon said.
"Ava, I don't want to lie to you. Everyone has a bad side, but I can assure you that William is genuinely sincere with you."
Ava responded, "I know he's very good to me."
"Don't you feel anything else?"
Hearing Brandon's question, Ava pondered for a moment.
"If you're referring to..." At this point, Ava suddenly didn't know how to continue.
Brandon said, "Don't worry. I promise you that as long as you don't want to, our conversation will stay between us."
Ava took a deep breath and replied, "I'm not sure. After all, William told me that he had someone he liked. I've met that girl, so I can't be narcissistic and think he loves me. I believe he cares about me a lot, so in return, I care about him, too. As for anything else, I really don't dare to overthink."
Brandon didn't want to make Ava uncomfortable, so he nodded. "Alright, I understand how you feel. No matter what, let's wait until William regains his memory. Otherwise, it's hard to say anything. But there's one thing I can promise you."
"What is it?"
"When William recovers, if you want to divorce him, don't have any reservations. I've already talked to Dalton about it. But you have to promise me one thing," Brandon said.
"What do you want me to promise?"
"Next time, don't sacrifice yourself to help others. I know you're kind-hearted and can't help but be good to those who are good to you, giving everything to help them. But sometimes, what you can do is limited. This time, it's William, but if it were someone else, would you also use marriage to help them?"
Ava lowered her eyes. "No matter what, it's already happened. Besides, William is worth it. I'm not helping anyone blindly. He is worth it."
"I understand, you think he's worth it, but..." Brandon's tone seemed a bit urgent, but then he softened. "I'm just afraid you'll get hurt. William won't harm you, but what if someone else has ill intentions? After all, the human heart is a mystery."
Seeing Brandon's serious expression, Ava could feel his genuine concern for her.
"I understand. Don't worry, I'll remember your words. I feel lucky to have met someone like William. No one else will treat me as well as he does."
Brandon nodded.
