Chapter 1201 Apologizing with Death
Alexander took out his phone and called Madison, but no one answered on the other end.
He turned to the bodyguard and asked, "When you captured Emily, Madison wasn't home, right?"
The bodyguard nodded, "Yes, only Emily was at home, Madison wasn't there."
Alexander frowned deeply.
If what Emily said was true, then Madison was fleeing to avoid punishment.
He clenched his fists, his knuckles cracking.
Is Madison really that kind of person? Have I been wrong about her all this time?
"Find out where Madison went."
A few hours later, a subordinate brought news about Madison.
Madison had booked a room at a hotel.
Alexander and his men arrived at the hotel room door and knocked forcefully, but there was no response from inside.
The staff used a key card to open the door, and a group of people filed in.
Madison was indeed in the room, lying on the bed.
Alexander strode over.
"Madison!" he shouted her name, but as he got closer, he suddenly noticed an empty pill bottle on the floor and Madison lying motionless on the bed.
Alexander frowned deeply, immediately pulling Madison up from the bed and checking her pulse. She was still alive.
After a painful stomach pumping and emergency treatment, Madison woke up.
Her face was extremely pale, and she opened her sore eyes.
It was already noon.
Alexander stood coldly by the bed, staring at her. Seeing that she was awake, his gaze lost its usual tenderness. He got straight to the point, "Did you try to kill yourself because you felt guilty?"
Madison had swallowed a lot of sleeping pills. Fortunately, she was found in time; otherwise, she would have died.
Madison frowned slightly, a hint of confusion flashing in her eyes, but she quickly understood.
"That's right, I felt guilty. I am responsible for Scarlett's situation. I let the wolf into the house, so I wanted to atone for my sins with my death. Why did you save me? You should have let me die."
Alexander took a step forward and coldly asked, "Emily said you were the one who killed my grandmother, and that the recording was taken out of context. I want you to tell me the truth, did you do it?"
Madison suddenly laughed, "That's exactly the kind of thing Emily would say. She can slander and attack people she doesn't know just from reading a fictional novel, let alone when someone in real life threatens her safety."
"So you're saying she's framing you, that she did it alone, and it has nothing to do with you?" Alexander pressed, his face extremely grim.
Madison suddenly closed her eyes and sighed softly.
"Alexander, just assume I killed Scarlett. Send me to prison. I don't want to live anymore. No matter what, I owe Scarlett my life."
"Madison!" Alexander suddenly became emotional, pulling her up from the bed and gripping her thin shoulders. "Don't give me this nonsense. I want to hear the truth. Did you kill my grandmother or not?"
Madison looked at him with tears in her eyes, "Alexander, do you know how much I love you? How could I bear to hurt the elder you care about the most? How could I do such a thing? I understand your suspicion because I already guessed what Emily would say, but it doesn't matter. I don't want to live anymore. If you suspect me, then kill me! Do you know how painful it was for me to realize I was still alive? I wanted to die alone in solitude, but why did you save me?"
