Ava was momentarily stunned, then acted as if she hadn't seen anything and turned to leave.
"Ava," Alexander stopped her, "it's not what it looks like."
Alexander was worried that Ava might think he was having a private meeting with Madison.
Hearing Alexander's explanation, Ava didn't react much, but Madison's reaction was intense. She looked at Alexander in disbelief, not understanding what there was to explain—it was exactly what Ava had seen.
Alexander glanced at Ava, then at Madison, feeling caught in the middle and at a loss.
"I just came out for some fresh air, I didn't mean to disturb you. Go ahead and say whatever you want."
"Ava, there's nothing going on between me and her, it's just..."
"You don't need to explain to me," Ava interrupted him. She then glanced at Madison, whose eyes were filled with anger. Madison was standing behind Alexander, and he didn't see how terrifying her innocent face looked at that moment.
Ava fearlessly met Madison's gaze for a moment, then said, "Haven't you already slept with her? Does it matter what you say?"
Ava's indifferent words left Alexander speechless. "Ava, I..."
The tall Alexander seemed as small as dust in front of Ava, unable to lift his head.
Madison suppressed her anger and stepped forward, saying, "Ava, it's not what you think. I was just talking to Alexander, don't take it too seriously."
Ava hadn't taken it seriously, but Madison's words made her feel it was deliberate.
So, she said calmly, "I'm not taking it seriously, don't overthink it."
"Ava, you are taking it seriously, I can tell. Calm down, don't get upset." Madison stepped forward and took her hand. "No matter what, you are always Alexander's family. I will never take your place."
Madison spoke tearfully, as if she was about to cry. Her emotions and attitude were well-acted.
Ava looked at her coldly.
Alexander frowned and was about to step forward to pull Madison away when Ava smiled slightly and said, "I'm not upset, you don't need to put on an act."
Since Madison was pretending, they couldn't both pretend. Someone had to be sincere.
Madison's face stiffened, and she looked at Ava in shock. "How can you say that about me?"

"Enough, stop talking," Ava interrupted her. "If you're not annoyed, I am. Stop acting. I just wanted to get some fresh air. Say whatever you want, it has nothing to do with me."
Ava turned and walked away.
"Ava," Madison was about to chase after her when Alexander suddenly stopped her with a cold face. "That's enough, don't chase her."
"Alexander," Madison looked up at him with tearful eyes. "Alexander, I didn't mean to make her angry. I didn't expect it to turn out this way. I just wanted to explain for you. Ava..."
"Madison," Alexander interrupted her. "You did say unnecessary things just now, which made people uncomfortable. So don't do it again next time."
Madison bit her lip, tears streaming down her cheeks. "I understand. I won't say anything again. I'm sorry. I'll go apologize to Ava."
