Chapter 943 A Terrible Thing

So, who was Christina to him, really?

But she didn't ask. She just listened, figuring Vincent would spill the beans eventually.

"I knew Christina was head over heels for Virgil. Honestly, I didn't hit him that hard. I was just pissed. How could he cheat on Christina when he had someone like her? Christina's gorgeous," Vincent said.

"But later, Virgil realized he messed up and apologized to Christina. She forgave him, and they got back together. They were all lovey-dovey again, hanging out and studying together. I was scared Virgil would hurt Christina again, so I pulled him aside and warned him. If he hurt her again, I'd ruin him," Vincent said.

"Eventually, their relationship got better and better. After college, they planned to get married. Our parents died early, so Christina and I leaned on each other. I was like a dad and mom to her, raising her. But Christina also took care of me. Thinking about her marrying someone else, it was hard to handle," Vincent recalled, a hint of pain on his face. "But Christina grew up. She found a guy she loved. She couldn't stay with her brother forever."

Ava finally got it. Christina was his sister, and they had grown up together, relying on each other.

When Vincent hallucinated, he called out her name so painfully, repeatedly apologizing.

Ava couldn't help but ask, "So where's Christina now? Is she still with Virgil?"

"To raise Christina and save money for her education, I lived on the edge. She never knew. She thought I was just a regular guy working at an auto repair shop. Until one day, she saw me lying in bed covered in blood. She was terrified and finally realized I wasn't as good as she thought." Vincent's eyes were empty and lifeless.

At this point, he seemed lost in memories and went silent.

Ava didn't push him, just waited quietly. After a few minutes, Vincent continued, "Christina saw how badly I was hurt and ran out in the middle of the night to get medicine for me. I couldn't stop her. I was too messed up and passed out. Christina never came back after that."

Ava's heart tightened as she listened. She had a bad feeling.

Her gaze became serious as she looked at Vincent.

When Vincent spoke again, his eyes were filled with a crimson hatred. He clenched his fists and gritted his teeth, "I searched everywhere for her, turned over every place. Finally, I found out from a small-time thug that Christina had been taken by gang members. After being gang-raped by dozens of men, they hollowed out her organs and threw her into the river."

Ava was shocked, trembling all over, as if those cruel scenes were flashing before her eyes. Every finger was shaking.

Two hot tears rolled down Vincent's cheeks. He wiped them away forcefully and continued through gritted teeth, "Later, Christina's body was pulled out of the river. She was covered in knife wounds, not a single inch intact. Her internal organs were hollowed out and her body was completely rotten."

Ava lowered her eyes, her nose tingling, and tears fell uncontrollably.

She wanted to say something to comfort him, but at this moment, any words seemed powerless.

She cautiously moved closer to him, slowly reaching out her hand to place it on Vincent's hand, gently holding it.
