Chapter 585 I Didn't Love You
Isabella, amid her tears, suddenly found herself gasping for air, clutching her chest as she struggled to breathe.
Alexander immediately squatted down, lifted her from the ground, and helped her sit on the hospital bed, quickly pressing the emergency bell by the bedside.
The medical staff quickly came in to check on Isabella. The doctor told Alexander that Isabella needed to rest peacefully and must not get emotionally agitated, as it would put a tremendous burden on her heart because of her heart transplant surgery.
After the medical staff left, Isabella lay on the hospital bed in a white wedding dress. Alexander walked towards her.
He did not hold her hand but said helplessly, "Isabella, why do you insist on this? I'm just a man who always breaks promises. You don't need to waste your time on me. Many men in this world are worth your love, and you will definitely find someone better."
"How easy it is for you to say that." Isabella sneered. "What about you? Why did you fall in love with Ava? Why don't you love me or someone else?"
Alexander was silent for a long time.
"Alex, you can't be so cruel," Isabella cried, "Do you know how happy I was when I put on this wedding dress? I used all my dignity, and I presented all my sincerity to you without hesitation, and in return, you humiliated me like this. And this wedding dress was a gift from you."
Alexander sighed softly. "At that time, you were very ill, and it was hard to find a suitable heart, so..."
"So you promised to marry me, and now you're going back on your word. If that's the case, I'd rather not be saved."
"Isabella." Alexander frowned. "isn't it better this way? You can live safe and sound, like a normal person."
"No, it's not good at all. Without you by my side, there's no such thing as good."
"Even after all I've done to you, you still want to marry me? You think I'm the only one for you?" Alexander asked.
He sometimes didn't understand women's persistence, but from another perspective, he seemed to understand this kind of persistence, just like his feelings for Ava.
He was also persistent about Ava, and this persistence always made her sad.
"Alex, you are the best man I've ever met. Besides you, I really don't know who else I could find. I only want you and no one else!" Isabella's eyes were filled with tears, looking pitiful.
Alexander looked at her silently. "Even if I don't love you, you still want to marry me?"
Isabella's mind went blank. She never thought he would say something so straightforward to her one day.
She always thought Ava was a threat, but she was confident that Alex loved her, and Ava couldn't compare to her at all. But she didn't expect him to be so blunt, telling her he didn't love her.
This sentence shattered her long-held dream. In an instant, everything was gone, and she fell into an endless abyss.
She admitted that her clinging to Alex was not purely for love, but receiving such a response from him still tore her heart apart.
Compared to the pain brought by love, she felt more hatred and unwillingness.
"Alex, do you really not love me at all?"
