Chapter 965 Misunderstanding Each Other

Alexander's voice was steady, not a trace of bitterness. Compared to William, he seemed more straightforward.

Ava was beyond tired. The fights between William and Alexander were a regular thing.

Last time they clashed in a restaurant, it ended with the cops showing up.

Ava knew that no matter whose side she took, the drama between these two would never end. This fight was just another round.

So she said, "Alexander, William, you guys are grown-ups. You need to own up to your actions. I can't keep dealing with your fights, whether it's once, twice, or a hundred times. What else can I do? As for who's right or wrong, I can't figure it out. If you two want to fight, then go ahead. Whoever starts it, the other can fight back. I'm not your mom; I can't clean up your mess every time and bail you out from the police station."

William opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but Ava's glare shut him up, and he could only direct his anger at Alexander.

This time, Ava didn't side with William, but Alexander wasn't about to let it slide.

"Ava," Alexander said, "why don't you hear why I hit him? Do you really think he just walked up to me and I punched him?"

"Alexander, what are you trying to do? Don't make up stories," William quickly cut in.

"Make up stories? William, feeling guilty? Afraid I'll tell Ava you barged into my place with a bunch of guys and held a gun to my head?" Alexander shot back.

Ava was stunned. "William, is this true? Did you really do that?"

William frowned deeply and immediately defended himself, "Ava, don't listen to his nonsense. How could I do that? I admit I brought people with me, but they were my bodyguards, there to protect me. I just wanted to talk to Alexander and ask where you were. I had no bad intentions. He's blowing everything out of proportion."

William spoke earnestly, every word dripping with sincerity, his face full of innocence.

Ava turned to Alexander. "Is what William said true?"

"It's true," Alexander stepped forward. "Ava, whether you believe me or not, this is the truth. He almost killed me. If I hadn't grabbed the gun in time, I would have been dead."

Ava's mind was spinning.

Was it really like this? Did William really try to kill Alexander?

But with both of them sticking to their stories, she didn't know who was lying and who was telling the truth.

One of them had to be lying.

One was her childhood friend who had hurt her, and the other was a close friend who had been there during her toughest times.

After thinking for a long time, Ava finally looked up at Alexander. "Could it be that you thought William was going to kill you?"

She felt that no matter what, William wouldn't actually kill Alexander. After all, they were in Stellaria, and as foreigners, William wouldn't do something so blatant.

Ava's reaction seemed to be what Alexander expected. He had a sliver of hope, but now it was completely gone. Every time, she would believe William, without exception.

"Can't you believe me just once? Why do you always doubt me and think I'm lying?" Alexander said.

"Alexander, it's not that I think you're lying," Ava explained. "I just feel that the situation at the time was intense, so both you and William might have misunderstood each other. Isn't that right?"
