Chapter 710 Eating Together
As William's attitude softened, Ava's anger cooled a bit.
She turned to Eason and said, "Eason, I'm sorry. William's just being cautious. He means no harm. Don't take it personally."
"It's okay, Ava. I get it. He's just looking out for you. You two are married, and having another guy around might make him uneasy."
Eason's words were gracious, showing he wasn't mad and that William cared about her. But there was an underlying tone that hinted at something more.
William clenched his fists, catching the hidden meaning.
'Is he calling me petty?' William fumed.
Ava glanced at William, unsure of what to say.
She thought, 'He's been mad at Alexander, and now he's mad at Eason. Everyone around me makes him angry.'
'Will he get jealous as long as there's another man around me?'
'And every time he gets jealous, I have to explain myself, even argue with him.'
'I've already agreed not to divorce him. What more does he want? Can't I have a male friend?'
'There's nothing inappropriate between me and Eason; we're like siblings. Does that make William uncomfortable too?'
'He's being overly petty.'
For the first time, Ava felt exhausted being with William.
'In the past, William shielded me from the storms, gave me the warmest care, and stood by me through the toughest times.'
'But now, he seems like a different person.'
'Could his personality have changed after losing his memory?'
Ava didn't want to overthink it or think badly of William.
In the end, she could only attribute everything to his memory loss, which made him insecure.
Ava sighed softly and said, "Eason, no matter what, it was William's fault. It's great that you don't mind."
William's blood pressure soared.
He thought, 'If Ava weren't the woman I love, I would've lost my temper long ago.'
'But I can't. No matter how much she irritates me, I still love her and will forgive her.'
'If it were someone else, I would've caused trouble for them, if not openly, then secretly.'
'After all, I've done such things before.'
'I appear polite and gentlemanly on the surface, but if someone offends me, I have ways to make them suffer.'
'Some people don't deserve to be dealt with openly. Only by taking action in the shadows can they understand the consequences of crossing me.'
William forced himself to suppress his anger and said gently, "Why don't you stay for dinner? I'll have someone prepare it and bring it here. You can chat with Ava more, and if you want to talk privately, I can leave."
'You're good at pretending?'
'Well, I'm also good at pretending.'
'You're no match to play games with me!' William scoffed inwardly.
"No need," Eason said with a smile. "We can have dinner together. Since there's no misunderstanding between us, we're good. As long as Ava isn't put in a difficult position, it's fine."
Eason's smile was bright and cheerful. It was rare to see such a sweet smile on a man's face.
His smile gave off a sense of trust, making Ava unconsciously fall into its warmth.
Ava said, "I'm not in a difficult position."
She had been worried that having dinner with Eason would upset William, but now that William didn't mind, it was all good.
