Chapter 1077 Busy Going Back and Forth
She wasn't sure if Bishop's words were true, but he clearly didn't want to give her his number. Ava didn't push it, knowing his identity was special.
By eleven o'clock, Ava was really starting to worry. She wondered if something had happened to him.
But she didn't know where Bishop was, nor did she have his number.
Just then, her phone rang. When she answered, it was Bishop's voice.
"Ava, it's me."
"Bishop, where are you now? Why didn't you come to find me? What happened?"
She was worried something had happened to him.
Bishop laughed and said, "Sorry, I had some things to take care of today, so I won't be able to see you for the next few days."
"I thought something had happened to you. You scared me."
"I'm fine; don't worry. How could anything happen to me? Sorry, I broke my promise."
"It's okay," Ava said. "Go handle your business."
"I'll take you to see the house once I'm done."
Ava responded, "Okay, no rush."
After hanging up, Ava breathed a sigh of relief. She looked down at Sunny in her arms and said, "Thank goodness Bishop is okay. He scared me."
She still felt uneasy.
After hanging up, Bishop sat on the floor, clutching his bloodied wound. Using makeshift tools, he painfully extracted the bullet from his wound and wrapped it with gauze.
Sweat dripped down his handsome face.
He didn't know who that person was, but he was sure the man meant harm to Ava.
If he ever had to leave Berlyn, he would make sure to deal with that man first to ensure Ava's safety.
Since she couldn't meet Bishop today, Ava decided to go house hunting on her own. She couldn't stay in a hotel forever.
Just as she was about to leave, her phone buzzed.
Ava picked up her phone and saw a message from Eason: [How have you been lately?]
Ava sat on the bed and replied: [Pretty good. I'm back in the country.]
Eason: [You're back? Great, let's meet up and have a meal together.]
Ava: [Sure, when are you free?]
Eason: [I'm free today—right now, actually.]
Ava: [I have to go house hunting after lunch. How about after that?]
Eason: [You're house hunting? Let me come with you.]
Ava: [It's okay; I can go by myself.]
Eason: [I'll go with you. It's not safe for a girl to go house hunting alone. What if you run into a creep?]
Ava: [I'm not a girl anymore.]
Eason: [You'll always be a girl, cute and pretty.]
Ava smiled helplessly, replying: [Alright then. Let's have lunch first.]
Eason: [I'll come to you. Where are you?]
Ava sent him her location.
Half an hour later, Eason arrived, and they went to a restaurant for lunch.
In the afternoon, Eason accompanied Ava to look for a house.
Eason was very diligent. He kept inspecting the structure and safety of the houses.
The real estate agent kept wiping his sweat, unable to fool Eason who knew what they were doing.
After a whole afternoon of house hunting, Ava found a nice apartment. It was in a good location, well-decorated, and had good security—a high-end apartment.
Ava didn't have to worry about the rent since she wasn't short on money. She paid three months' rent upfront and rented the place.
She remembered the last time she rented a place, she didn't stay long, without getting her deposit back. She wondered how long she would stay this time.
Next, Eason helped Ava move her luggage from the hotel to the rented apartment. He was busy cleaning the apartment. By the time they were done, it was already dark and they hadn't eaten.
"Eason," Ava handed him a bottle of water. "You've worked hard. Are you tired?"
Eason said, "Not tired."
But he took the bottle and drank the water.
Ava said, "You're sweating all over. Go take a shower. Give me your clothes, and I'll wash them in the machine and dry them for you."
"Alright, I'll go shower first," Eason said as he walked into the bathroom.
After undressing, he handed his clothes to Ava through the door crack.
Ava washed his clothes in the washing machine and then dried them. By the time Eason finished his shower, his clothes cleaning was done.
After the shower, Eason felt much more refreshed.
