Chapter 539 Why Was He So Lucky?

"Ava, I'm serious," William said to her retreating figure.

Ava turned her head. "If I go back to rest, I won't come back, okay?"

"Why?" William asked in panic, "Did I do something wrong again?"

"If you don't want to do anything wrong, just listen to me obediently. And after I leave, can you honustly promise not overthink things?"

Ava was worried about this. William would pretend to be strong, reluctant to have her take care of him here, but once she left, he would be scared.

His current condition did not warrant undue worry. At least, her presence by his side served to soothe his emotions. As long as it contributed to his physical recovery, she did not mind staying in the hospital all day.

The sooner he recovered, the better it would be for both of them.

William lowered his head in shame. He had indeed been overthinking. When Ava left, he kept thinking about things he couldn't control.

"William, you don't need to worry. I sleep well here, and seeing you okay makes me happy. If I go back, I'll worry about you and won't sleep soundly. Staying by your side, I can be more at ease."

William wanted to say something more, but Ava had already walked into the bathroom.

His eyes stared blankly at the closed bathroom door, a faint smile appearing on his lips.

Although he wanted Ava to go back and rest, deep down, he still hoped she would stay with him. Maybe he was selfish, but he needed her.

Eason sat by the bedside, cradling his phone. Initially, he was smiling, but later, his expression hardened upon seeing something unknown.

The caregiver sat on a chair, dutifully by his side. With no immediate tasks at hand, she proceeded to knit a scarf.

The caregiver, Ella, was a youthful woman who appeared to be in her early twenties, around the same age as Ava. Observing Eason's countenance growing solemn with furrowed brows, Ella halted knitting.

"What's wrong?"

Just a moment ago, she saw Eason smiling.

Eason ignored her and stared at his phone screen.

Ava was taking care of William with all her heart. Even if William asked her to leave, she insisted on staying.

She was so good to him. Why was William so lucky?

He harbored a hint of regret awakening William, yet upon reflection, for her sake, he bore no remorse. As long as she was happy, everything was worth it.

However, with William awake, some other complications emerged as she stuck to him like a shadow.

William was so annoying, even asking to hug her. He was already an adult. How shameless!

The more Eason thought about it, the more annoyed he became.

If only William died. But if he died, Ava would be sad.

Observing Eason clutching his phone with intensity, Ella grew slightly concerned. Approaching him, she leaned in and inquired, "What are you looking at?"

"Get lost! Who told you to come over!"

Ella was startled, taking several steps back and falling to the ground.

She never expected that a boy who seemed so polite would suddenly become so fierce, like a completely different person. Before, he was very polite, speaking in a gentle demeanor.

Eason's sharp gaze fell upon her, with a fleeting hint of cruelty, yet he sheathed the edge in his demeanor swiftly and inquired, "Are you alright?"
