Chapter 708 An Argument Occurs

"Basically, it's about using deep learning to make self-driving cars smarter and more accurate."

Ava took a second to process. "That sounds super complicated, right?"

Eason nodded. "Yeah, it is. It covers everything from collecting and cleaning data, building and training models, to real-world testing."

Ava was all ears.

"That's incredible, Eason. You're really smart. The future of tech needs people like you," Ava said, impressed.

Eason scratched his head, a bit shy. "Ava, you're making me blush. There are lots of smart folks out there."

"Eason, you're so humble. When your paper's done, can I read it?" Ava asked.

"Sure, if you don't mind the boredom, you'll be the first to see it."

William watched them, his face darkening with jealousy.

'Do they really get along that well?' he thought. 'It's just a paper, what's the big deal?'

'Ava looks at Eason like he's some kind of genius. No matter how smart he is, he's just a kid under twenty. How great can he be?'

'He's just young, good-looking, and knows how to charm women. Maybe he's trying to scam Ava for money.'

The more he thought, the more jealous he got.

He didn't want Ava to talk to Eason, but he couldn't just tell him to leave without upsetting her.

Feeling ignored, William finally spoke up, "Your topic's good, but it needs a lot of money to pull off."

"Yeah," Eason agreed. "It does need funding, but if we make progress, I'll prepare detailed proposals to get funding. Whether it's from the school, the government, or investors, good ideas get noticed."

"Yeah, Eason, you're really smart," Ava said with a smile. "I believe lots of people will support you."

"Will you support me?" Eason asked sweetly.

Before Ava could answer, William cut in, "Are you asking Ava to invest in you? Is that your angle?"

'I knew it. He's just after money,' William thought, his displeasure clear.

Eason blinked, confused. "That's not what I meant."

"Then what did you mean?"

"William, don't be like that," Ava said. "Eason didn't say anything like that."

William frowned. "Ava, you're too naive and kind, easy to deceive."

Just as Ava was about to speak, Eason quickly said, "Ava, don't argue because of me."

Ava said, "Eason, we're not arguing. I'm sorry; William shouldn't have said that."

This made William even more uncomfortable. 'I haven't done anything wrong, so why apologize to this guy?' he thought.

"It's okay, Ava. Maybe I said something that made him misunderstand. I meant I want your support in a moral sense. How could I ask you to invest in a project? Research is risky, and I wouldn't want you to spend money on me. Even if I need funding, I'll look for other investors. Your money should be for you, to live well, not wasted," Eason explained.
