Chapter 31 He Made Her Cook for the Mistress!

Seeing Ava's anxious face, Alexander frowned. "You'll find out when you get here."

With that, he left the room, clearly annoyed.

Confused, Ava waited until noon. Unsure whether to go before or after lunch, she decided to call Alexander. When he answered, Ava quickly asked, "It's noon. Should I come to your office now?"

"Yes, come over."

"Have you had lunch?" Ava asked out of habit.

"Not yet."

"How about I make lunch at home and bring it to you?"

She knew Alexander often got so busy that he skipped lunch or just had a cup of coffee. Sometimes, she would make him lunch to ensure he had something nutritious. She didn't mind the trouble; she just wanted him to eat healthily.

Today, she might be going to sign the divorce papers. This could be her last chance to make him lunch.

"No need," Alexander declined, "Just come; you don't need to bring lunch."

Ava felt a pang of emptiness but quickly brushed it off. They were getting divorced; why should she bother making him lunch?

"Alright, I—"

"Wait," Alexander interrupted, "you can make lunch, but make two portions. No chili."

"Two portions?"

"Yes, I'm busy. We'll talk when you get here."

"Okay."

After hanging up, Ava went to the kitchen. Two portions? Did he want to have lunch with her?

She made two portions, one without chili for him and one with chili for herself. She loved spicy food but had stopped eating it because Alexander didn't like it. He even thought she didn't like spicy food either.

With the lunch packed, Ava headed to his office. When she arrived, she walked straight to the president's office. The door was open, and she walked in.

She froze at the sight before her.

On the sofa sat a man and a woman. Alexander was attentively pouring water for Isabella.

Alexander looked up at Ava. "You're here."

Ava stood rooted to the spot. Why was Isabella here?

She thought she was coming to sign the divorce papers and have one last meal with him. Did Isabella need to witness them signing the papers?

Alexander got up, walked over to Ava, and took her lunch. "Thanks for bringing lunch. I told Isabella you were a good cook, and she wanted to try it. Today, she finally gets the chance."

It was like a bolt from the blue for Ava. Did he have her bring lunch for him and Isabella?

She remembered how Alexander initially refused her offer to bring lunch but then quickly changed his mind. It must have been because Isabella was with him and wanted to try her cooking.

What did that make her now? Isabella's chef? Alexander didn't even ask if she was willing to cook for Isabella.

She felt a deep sense of humiliation.
