Chapter 576 We Were Family
Ava walked out of the hospital room directly, and Evelyn shouted agitatedly, "Ava, come back. You can't leave!"
Evelyn wanted to get out of bed to chase after her, but unfortunately, her legs couldn't move at all, so she could only anxiously watch Ava's figure disappear into the distance.
After Ava went out, she immediately called Scarlett on her phone, and the call was quickly answered, still with that kind and patient voice.
"Ava, is that you? What's up?"
"Grandma, I want to ask you something. Can you tell me the truth?" Ava asked.
Scarlett smiled. "Of course, what is it?"
Ava said, "Did my aunt come to see you?"
Scarlett suddenly fell silent.
After a while, Scarlett spoke, "Why are you suddenly asking about this?"
"Grandma, can you answer my question first? Did she really come to see you?" Ava asked again.
Scarlett said, "Yes, your aunt did come to see me, but that was a few years ago."
Ava frowned. "Grandma, why didn't you tell me? I had no idea about this."
"Because you were still in school at the time, I didn't want to disturb you. I know Evelyn is not good to you, so I brushed it off," Scarlett replied.
"Grandma, you should have told me," Ava said softly.
"I know, but that's in the past. If I had told you at the time, you would have been upset. You were busy with your studies, so I didn't want to affect you. I apologize to you," Scarlett said.
Ava sighed softly in her heart. "Grandma, I don't blame you. I know you did it for my good, that's why you didn't tell me. But when she came to see you, it definitely wasn't because she cared about me, right? Did she ask you for money?"
Scarlett answered, "Yes, she asked for a million dollars."
"A million?" Ava was surprised. "She actually asked for so much money. Did you give it to her?"
"I did," Scarlett replied.
"Grandma, you shouldn't have given her so much money. She loves gambling. If you give her money, she'll squander it in a few days."
"I know," Scarlett said, "Seeing your aunt, I know what kind of person she is, but I did it for you. I was afraid she would come to bother you. I made it clear to her that I would only give her money that one time. If she dares to come to the Mitchell family for money again, I have ways to deal with her. The Mitchell family is not to be trifled with. Since that incident, she hasn't appeared in these years. But today, you suddenly called me about this. She must have come to harass you. Tell me where she is, and I'll help you deal with this."
"Grandma, I accidentally ran into her. She was injured, so I helped her with the medical expenses," Ava explained.
"I see. In fact, maybe she also wanted to find you, hence she created this opportunity," Scarlett suggested.
Ava sighed. "I'm not too sure about this matter."
In any case, meeting her was definitely not a good thing.
"Ava, don't worry about her. She's like a bottomless pit. Which hospital is she in now? I'll go talk to her in person, and she won't bother you again," Scarlett said firmly.
"Grandma, I'll try to handle this matter myself. You don't have to worry for now," Ava replied.
Ava really didn't want to trouble her. After all, it was a matter on her side of the family. The Mitchell family had already done enough for her. Scarlett should not have given that million dollars.
But Scarlett had parted with a million dollars for her sake, which was a huge sum of money.
Scarlett said, "Alright if anything happens, remember to tell me. I'll take care of it for you. Don't keep it to yourself; don't feel bad. We are family. Always remember this: no matter what happens between you and Alex, the Mitchell family will always be your home. I believe he thinks the same."
"Okay. I understand, Grandma," Ava said.
After hanging up the phone, Ava sighed softly.
