Chapter 380 The Handsome Guy's Name

"I saw a man downstairs. He looked very angry and drove away. Not long after, you came downstairs and kept crying and calling out a name."

Upon hearing the word "angry," Ava's lips curled into a helpless smile. The idea of Alexander being angry was almost amusing to her. He had been so blunt about his decade-long absence of love, so how could he possibly be angry now?

"Is that man your lover?" the stranger inquired.

A bitter smile tugged at Ava's lips as she responded, "He... He's my ex-husband. We've only recently finalized our divorce."

"I see. Why do you still cry for him then?"

Tears still clung to the corners of Ava's eyes, glistening like dewdrops. She offered a faint smile, tinged with a hint of melancholy. "I... I won't cry anymore. From now on, I won't cry."

"That's the spirit," the stranger encouraged. "Don't cry. You seem like a genuinely good person. The divorce must be his fault, not yours. You should be happy."

Ava lifted her gaze, her eyes meeting the stranger's. "Do you really believe that? We've only known each other for a few minutes, and you think I'm completely innocent?"

"Absolutely," the stranger nodded emphatically. "You're so beautiful, how could you possibly be at fault?"

Ava chuckled at his playful remark.

"Is beauty a fault now? My ex-husband is quite handsome himself. Why do you assume the fault lies entirely with him?"

"I prefer beautiful women, not handsome men who cause harm," the stranger gently replied. "You're so beautiful, you're bound to find someone better. Let's not concern ourselves with harmful men."

His voice was soothing, like a gentle stream of warm water trickling into Ava's heart.

A sense of relief washed over Ava. "Thank you, I'll remember your words."

"Good! Stay away from harmful men. They'll never find true happiness," the stranger declared, his tone laced with anger.

Ava wanted to respond, but realized she didn't know his name. "What's your name?"

"Miss, my name is Eason Harrington."

"Eason Harrington," Ava repeated, nodding in approval. "That's a really nice name."

"Miss, you can just call me Eason."

"Alright, Eason. My ex-husband didn't love me, but he's not a bad person. Let's not talk about him. Anyway, we're already divorced, it's all in the past."

Despite her occasional resentment towards Alexander, hearing others label him as a bad man made her feel uncomfortable.

Maybe it was a form of self-defense, but mostly it was because she and Alexander were divorced, and she felt it was inappropriate to speak ill of each other. They had parted ways amicably, so why tarnish each other's reputation?

Even if others called him a bad man, it didn't bring her any joy.

She didn't want to be the type of person who spitefully denigrated their ex after a breakup. It just didn't feel right.

After all, she had known this so-called "bad man" for ten years, including a year of marriage.

They had once shared a sweet domestic life, holding each other close in the quiet of the night.

He had inflicted a great deal of pain upon her, but he had also brought her immense joy.

She cherished every moment of his tenderness.

That was why it hurt so much later on.

She believed that Alexander wouldn't slander her to others either.

Their relationship wasn't a simple matter of right or wrong.

"All right, Miss, I won't bring it up again. But since it's over, you should live your life to the fullest, especially now that you're expecting a baby," Eason said.

Ava's heart skipped a beat, and she stared at Eason in disbelief. "How did you know?"
