Chapter 946 Won't Blame You

Vincent kept asking why, clutching his head and pulling his hair, desperately shouting, "Why? What's the reason?"

Ava gently patted his back, unsure of what to say to comfort him.

Not all pain can be comforted.

He had lost his closest family, and in such a way that no one could bear it. If it were her, she would have broken down too.

Suddenly, Vincent reached out and pulled Ava into his arms, holding her tightly.

Ava was startled. She hurriedly braced against his broad shoulders, just about to push him away when Vincent pleaded in her ear, "Don't move, let me hold you for a while, please."

Ava sighed softly in her heart. She patted Vincent's back and said, "It isn't your fault, but those thugs. I believe Christina wouldn't blame you. She would definitely want you to cherish the present, to experience each day well, and not to suffer anymore."

"Ava, I'm sorry for trapping you here, for making you Christina for a few days. I was just chasing old memories, living in an illusion. When I first saw you, it was like seeing Christina. The thought of you being hurt by them was unbearable."

His expression was filled with guilt and remorse, his eyes revealing a hint of sadness and helplessness, as if he was deeply entangled in his inner turmoil, unable to escape. His voice carried a trace of choking and heaviness.

He was apologizing to Ava, but also expressing his inner struggle and pain. He tried to explain his actions but felt powerless.

"Anyway, thank you for saving me, whether you saw me as Christina or Ava, you saved me," Ava said sincerely.

"Even if I didn't see you as Christina, I would have saved you." Vincent released her, holding her thin shoulders, looking at her seriously, "Because I can't stand seeing women being bullied."

The two of them looked at each other in silent gaze, the air seemingly filled with a complex emotion.

Ava could empathize with Vincent's pain, perhaps because she was easily sympathetic to others.

"Don't sit on the floor anymore, let me help you to the couch," she said.

Vincent nodded, and with Ava's help, stood up from the floor.

His steps were a bit unsteady, his spirit had taken a greater hit than his physical injuries.

Outside the house shrouded in night, a sense of foreboding filled the air.

In the silent darkness, only the faint moonlight spilled onto the ground, outlining vague shapes.

The surroundings were dotted with dim streetlights, their ghostly glow flickering in the night breeze. In the distance, the wind blew through the withered grass letting out a low and mournful whisper.

A few owl hoots echoed from afar, like cries of the night, piercing the silent darkness.

Alexander and his team hid outside the house, they had finally found where Ava was.

She was trapped in this house.

Alexander used a radar to scan the house.

The radar display showed two people closely pressed together, stumbling as they walked.

The image was unclear in detail, only showing rough outlines, but it was distinguishable that one was a man and the other a woman.

Alexander recognized the woman.
