Chapter 749 Feeling Sorry for Hailey

Vicky reassured her, "Don't worry, I won't let Dad find out."

"You're such a good girl. I didn't love you for nothing," Mandy said, pleased. "Once you find out, come back and tell me. Seeing your mom so heartbroken, it pains me."

As Mandy spoke, tears fell from her eyes. "How could my precious daughter be bullied like this?"

Mandy comforted her, "Don't cry. Trust me, I'll get to the bottom of this. If Dad really did such a thing, I won't forgive him either."

Mandy gently patted her hand and praised, "Good girl"

Hailey went downstairs and saw Vicky just leaving.

She was about to call out to her, but Vicky walked away quickly and was soon out of sight.

Hailey approached Mandy. "Mom, Vicky was here. Why didn't you tell me?"

Mandy responded, "You were resting upstairs, so I didn't want to disturb you."

Hailey looked at Mandy suspiciously. "Mom, did you ask her to come over? What for?"

Seeing the doubtful expression on Hailey's face, Mandy didn't hide it.

She revealed, "I asked Vicky to come over to find out why you divorced her father. Was it because he cheated?"

Hearing Mandy's words, Hailey immediately sat down beside her and said, "Mom, I've already explained this to you. The divorce was my decision. I didn't want to live with him anymore. It had nothing to do with whether he cheated or not."

"Why are you so serious?" Mandy smiled. "Vicky said she didn't know."

"Mom, let's not dwell on this anymore," Hailey said anxiously. "Dalton and I are already divorced. No matter the reason, pursuing it further is meaningless and will only bring more trouble and worry."

Mandy looked at Hailey with some urgency. "Are you happy now? You gave everything to marry him, and how did he treat you all these years? He never came home and treated you like air. Now that you're divorced, you still defend him in every way, taking all the blame on yourself. You're afraid we'll cause him trouble. Why are you so foolish?"

Hailey claimed, "Mom, I just don't want to bring more sorrow upon myself. I need to start over now. I don't want to deal with past issues anymore. It's all behind me."

"If these things are really behind you, then why are you crying?" Mandy questioned. "You cried last night and again this morning. I'm your mother; I know better than anyone how heartbroken you are."

Mandy's expression was stern, but she truly felt for Hailey.

"I'll be fine in a few days," Hailey said through her tears. ""It's just... after all these years, it's hard to adjust to being divorced. It's not about anything else, Mom. Please, let it go."

Seeing Hailey's sorrowful look, Mandy sighed. "Alright, since you insist, I have no choice. I respect your wishes."

She gently patted Hailey's hand. "Just don't let yourself be wronged anymore."

"Mom, I won't let myself be wronged again." Hailey reassured her.

Mandy wiped her face. "Stop crying and go wash your face. Your face is covered in tear stains."

Hailey nodded, stood up, and said, "I'll go back to my room then."

She turned and went upstairs.

Mandy poured herself a glass of water.

As she held the cup, her gaze grew fiercer.

"I won't let him get away with it!" She vowed.
