Chapter 443 It's My Own Choice

"He didn't force me!" Ava raised her head, crying, "It's all my own choice. Please don't fight."

She could only say that otherwise the consequences would be unimaginable if they continued to fight.

William looked at her in shock. "What did you say?"

Ava wiped the tears from her face. "I invited him here. The truth is not as you think, it was all my own volition."
As Alexander wiped the traces of blood from his mouth, he fixed his gaze on William's enraged countenance, emitting a cold snort and a hint of satisfaction gleamed in his eyes.
Striding forward, he pulled Ava into his embrace. "Darling, do not weep. We shall return home, and do not let him affect your spirits."
"Alexander, release her!" William shouted.
William moved to intervene. However, Ava, agitated, exclaimed, "It is enough!"
She pushed away from Alexander, standing between them. "I implore both of you."
"Ava, has Alexander coerced you? Tell me the truth, and do not fear. I will help you!"
William refused to believe that Ava was acting of her own accord.
"He didn't force me. It's all my own choice. I missed him too much. It's all because of me!"

She couldn't let William beat Alexander badly for her as he wouldn't escape punishment later.

She told William that she volunteered. So, he had no reason to fight Alexander.

Alexander understood that Ava intentionally spoke in this manner to protect William. Though he felt anger welling up within him, on the other hand, he realized that her words would surely enrage William.
"William, can you hear me? I am the one who truly holds her heart," Alexander said.

William clenched his fists. "Is this true? Ava, did you willingly have sex with him?"

"Yes." Ava wiped the tears from her face. "I did it willingly."

Alexander felt a pang in his heart.

He didn't want Ava to bear this responsibility. It was clearly his fault, but if he said something now, he would inevitably end up fighting with William again, and Ava would be more miserable at that time.

"Why?" William couldn't believe it. "He hurt you so much. Why would you willingly reduce yourself like this?"

"There's no reason. I just did it, and I just still think of him. I can't control myself. I can't help it!" Ava replied.

The disappointed gaze in William's eyes pierced Ava's soul, yet she had no alternative.
She would rather let William fault her than see him engaging in a brutal altercation with Alexander. If either of them were to land in trouble, both would face imprisonment. She could not permit such a scenario to unfold.
In comparison, what were her grievances worth?
"Ava, have you forgotten? We have just gotten married!" William's rage flared. "How could you do this?"
"I..." Ava was at a loss for words. Her marriage to William was a charade. Even if they were married on paper, they were merely friends. No spousal loyalty was required, and she would allow William to be with other women if he wished.
William could have blamed her, cursed her, but she couldn't fathom why he was fixated on their marriage. She could not let Alexander discover that her marriage to William was a facade, so she held her tongue.
The situation had devolved into a mess. Observing Ava's silence only strengthened William's suspicions.
He suddenly chuckled, stepping back several paces. "Ava, how could you be so despicable?"
"William, how dare you insult Ava!" Alexander moved forward to reprimand him.
Ava intercepted his path. "Stop!"
