Chapter 1006 Stop Looking

Alexander handed the USB drive to Ava and said, "Everything he did is on here. Watch it. If you still believe William didn't try to kill me and want me to let him go, I will."

Ava stared at the USB drive in Alexander's hand, curiosity gnawing at her. With evidence right there, she figured it wouldn't hurt to take a look.

Wiping her tears, Ava said, "Alright, I'll watch it. I want to know what really happened." Back then, Alexander and William each had their own version of the story, and she didn't know whom to believe.

Alexander grabbed Ava's wrist and said, "Come with me."

He led her to a quiet spot and had someone bring over a laptop. Then, he plugged in the USB drive and opened the video files.

Ava sat in front of the computer, watching as Alexander clicked through the files, finally opening a video. But he didn't hit play.

Ava asked, "What's wrong? Play it already." She reached for the mouse, eager to see it.

Alexander moved the mouse away and said, "I'll show you, but first, I want to ask you something."

"What?" Ava asked.

Alexander was silent for a moment, then spoke, "What kind of person is William to you?"

Ava lowered her eyes and replied, "You should know that very well, shouldn't you?"

"But I want to hear it from you," Alexander looked at her. "Tell me what kind of person he is to you."

Ava said, "To me, William is gentle, considerate, and kind. He's always been there for me, taking care of me, and accommodating me. Sure, he has some minor flaws, but he's still perfect in my eyes."

Alexander said, "So, if I let him go to jail, would you hate me and think I did it on purpose to harm him?"

Ava nodded.

Alexander continued, "William has been by your side, helping you a lot. He's a very important person in your life, isn't he?"

Ava responded, "Yes, he's very important to both me and the child."

From her pregnancy to childbirth, William had always been with her, never leaving her side, taking care of her and Sunny. Although he wasn't Sunny's biological father, he treated Sunny as if he were, even more so than a biological father would. If it weren't for William signing the necessary documents, Sunny wouldn't have survived.

Ava couldn't bring herself to think badly of William.

Alexander silently looked at Ava for a long time. Finally, a heavy, dark look flashed in his eyes, and he said, "Then you'd better not watch it."

Ava frowned at his words, looking at him in confusion. "Why?"

Alexander explained, "Because it will ruin the image you have of him in your heart. So hate me instead. Anyway, I have no good image left in your heart, so it doesn't matter if I ruin it a bit more. But William is different; all that matters is that he treats you well."

As Alexander spoke, he was about to pull out the USB drive.

Ava grabbed his hand and asked, "Wait. What do you mean by that? Are you not planning to call the police anymore?"

Alexander responded, "No, I'm not planning to call the police anymore. Let him stay by your side and treat you well. At least he hasn't hurt you, which is rare."
