Chapter 851 No Bad Words

Vicky thought it was totally unfair to Hailey and wanted to spill the beans, but since Hailey begged her, she kept her mouth shut and didn't tell Mandy.

Mandy tried to get Vicky to open up, but Vicky stayed tight-lipped.

Eventually, Mandy gave up asking.

A few more days rolled by.

Dalton was in his office, shuffling through some papers. He had his phone glued to his ear, a goofy grin plastered on his face. He couldn't focus on a single word on those documents.

His mind was somewhere else, probably on the other end of the line.

Dalton asked, "We should totally get some alone time. Where do you wanna go?"

"Mia, chill out. I just wanna take a trip with you, somewhere no one knows us for a few days. If you don't wanna pick, I'll do it."

"Mia, honey, no bad words, okay?"

"Alright, it's settled. I'll pick the spot. Don't stress, I'm not dragging you off right now. We'll wait a bit; I've got a lot on my plate too. Just giving you a heads-up."

"Sweetie, why the cursing? It bums me out."

He said it bummed him out, but he was grinning like a fool inside.

"Get outta my way!"

A pissed-off voice came from outside the door.

"I'm sorry, you can't go in. The chairman's busy."

"Do you know who I am? If you don't move, I can make sure your chairman's out of a job too!"

Dalton frowned and quickly said into the phone, "Baby, gotta go, I'm busy."

He hung up.

Dalton hit a button on his desk phone and said, "Let her in."

Soon, the door flew open, and Hailey barged in.

Dalton frowned.

Hailey's sudden entrance wasn't a shock.

He told his secretary, "Bring a cup of coffee."

"Okay."

His secretary was about to leave when Hailey snapped, "No need, I'll just say a few words and bounce. Can't stand this place."

His secretary looked awkward.

Dalton waved his hand, signaling his secretary to leave.

His secretary nodded and closed the door.

Dalton stayed seated, not even thinking about getting up.

Hailey stepped forward. "Mr. Bennett, you're a hard man to find. You don't answer calls or texts. I need an appointment just to see you."

He probably forgot how he made his fortune.

Now he didn't even appreciate the blessings they gave him. It was so difficult for her to see him.

Dalton said, "You're not my wife anymore, so I can't be glued to your messages. Plus, I've been swamped lately and don't have time for visitors."

Hailey shot back, "Busy? You have time to mess with Mia, but you can't even be bothered to answer my calls about our daughter?! If you're gonna make excuses, at least make them good. Your lame excuses just show your true colors."

Dalton was quiet for a moment, then stood up, straightened his suit, and his tall figure loomed over her, "You knew what kind of guy I am, didn't you? You wanted to marry me, I didn't twist your arm. And over the years, I haven't cheated with Mia. I've always met your needs."

Hailey continued, "Dalton, I'm not here to dig up old dirt. I'm here to talk about Vicky. You know exactly what you did to her."
