Chapter 961 No Ifs
Ava was seriously getting fed up.
Alexander's eyes dropped, looking a bit down.
"Alright, you talk, I'll listen." He wanted to hear her out; Vincent was definitely up to something shady.
"He asked me to stay with him for a week, just to cook and clean. Nothing else, he didn't hurt me. He's just lonely and wanted some company."
Ava turned to look through the glass, speaking softly, "He used to have a sister, but she passed away. He treats me like a sister. It's not what you think."
Even after Ava's explanation, Alexander still thought Vincent was no good.
But knowing Ava wasn't harmed, he felt a bit relieved. "So what are you gonna do when he wakes up?"
"Of course, I'll take care of him and help him get better. No matter what, he saved my life, and I owe him that."
"He saved your life, and you're all worried about him. What about me, Ava?"
Alexander grabbed her arm, "Last time you were kidnapped, I risked my life to save you, but you chose William. I almost died back then. Why don't you protect me like you protect Vincent?"
Ava said, "Did you give me that chance?" Ava shot back, "I admit I chose William back then, but I had no choice. I had to pick one, or you both would have died. I've said it a million times, no matter who I chose, it was painful. If I could, I would have chosen to die myself, but the kidnappers wouldn't allow it!"
Ava continued sadly, "I know I hurt you, but I tried to find you later. I desperately tried, but you refused to see me. I finally got your whereabouts from your mom and went to the hospital to find you. I talked to you through the door, but you weren't there that day. Alexander, I wanted to clear things up so many times, but you never gave me the chance!"
Alexander was stunned. "What did you say? You went to the hospital to find me, what did you say?"
Could it be he was at Ethan's place that day, so he missed her?
Alexander remembered waiting for a long time that day, but she never showed up.
He thought she wouldn't come, so he was crushed.
Ava thought about all the things she said to him back then, all for nothing.
If Alexander had heard them, would things have been different between them?
But there were no ifs; it was too late now.
"Anyway, it was just some apologies. I thought you heard them, but later I found out you weren't there. So it was all for nothing," Ava said.
"Ava," Alexander said excitedly, "then tell me those things again. What did you say back then? Please, tell me again."
Why did he and Ava keep missing each other? Why did fate always mess with them?
Alexander didn't get why he kept missing Ava over and over.
"What's the point of saying it again?" Ava said helplessly, "Alexander, things are the way they are. We've missed too much. After all this time, we meet again, and you show up with another woman, and she's pregnant with your child. What do you want me to say?"
They had missed each other more than once. If Alexander had answered her calls or replied to her messages, those small actions could have changed everything.
But he never did, so what they missed wasn't just that one time she went to find him.
