Chapter 829 He Smelled Really Good

Lunch was pretty chill, though Mia was a bit stiff at first. Brandon, on the other hand, was super open.

As time went on, Mia loosened up, and they chatted about everything from business to personal stuff. They even swapped some weird and funny stories.

Mia found Brandon pretty entertaining. Every time she laughed, he'd look at her with this tender, meaningful gaze, but he'd quickly hide it when she noticed.

After lunch, they kept talking and lost track of time—it was already 2 PM.

Mia checked the time. "Mr. Smith, we've been here a while. I hope I didn't take up too much of your time."

Brandon smiled. "No, if anything, I hope I didn't take up too much of yours."

Mia smiled back. "Not at all. I didn't expect we'd get along so well."

Brandon was different from other leaders she'd met. He was polite and considerate, never acting superior. Even when the waiter changed his plate, he said thank you. He was quite charming.

Rumor had it he was single and childless, probably married to his career. A guy like him, even if single, wouldn't lack female attention. In elite circles, even married folks had affairs—they just kept it hush-hush.

At social events, Mia often saw well-dressed men with multiple women. Even famous actresses were just playthings for the rich. Politics was messy too, and Mia had seen enough to be numb to it. She didn't know what Brandon was like in private, but he seemed more restrained and respectable.

"Let's meet more often and chat," Brandon suggested.

Mia was a bit surprised. Brandon continued, "We can be friends, just hang out. How about that?"

Mia's palms got sweaty. She stared at Brandon, realizing something he wanted her to see. Just then, her phone buzzed. It was a message from George: [Mia, where are you? Mom's getting worse and wants to see you.]

Mia's face turned serious as she put her phone away.

"What's wrong? Something happened?" Brandon asked, looking concerned.

"It's a message from my husband. Sorry, Mr. Smith, I have to go," Mia said, reminding Brandon she had a husband.

Brandon nodded. "It's late anyway. Let's head back."

He stood up first. "I'll walk you to the door."

As they were leaving, Mia realized she forgot her coat. Brandon grabbed it and draped it over her shoulders.

"Thanks," Mia said, but Brandon's hands lingered on her shoulders. They were close, their breaths mingling.

Mia felt nervous and looked up at his handsome face. He smelled really good. Her eyes softened, and her heart raced.

Suddenly, Brandon's eyes darkened, and he pulled her in, kissing her.
