Chapter 762 Everything's Fine

"I didn't hide anything from you. Ava, I'mgoing to the bathroom. Wait for me."

William headed to the bathroom, looking like he was avoiding her.

Just then, the doctor walked in.

"Mrs. Bennett, how are you feeling?"

"I'm fine. Thanks for saving my child," Ava replied.

"It's our duty," the doctor said. "Your husband made all the decisions."

"My husband?" Ava glanced at the bathroom door. "William told me there were complications during the surgery, and it took hours. What happened?"

The doctor explained everything to Ava.

Ava's face turned pale with shock. It was her walk that affected the baby, causing the surgery complications. William kept his promise and did everything to save their child, not opting to terminate the pregnancy.

Ava sighed in relief, feeling lucky to have William.

"Mrs. Bennett, your husband was under a lot of stress. I hope you don't blame him."

Ava smiled. "How could I blame him? I'm grateful he made that decision. If I woke up and found my child gone, I couldn't handle it."

Seeing Ava in tears, the doctor handed her a tissue.

"Don't cry. You need to rest. Your husband will take good care of you. When he heard the surgery was successful, he collapsed, crying happy tears. He really loves you. I've never seen such devotion."

Ava furrowed her brows, feeling a pang in her heart. 'Was William really like that?' she thought. He never told her, just silently did everything for her.

"Do you know why my husband's face is injured?"

"I'm not sure," the doctor said. "When the surgery ended, his face was already swollen. A middle-aged woman was waiting with him and they argued about the surgery decision. Maybe that's how he got hurt."

Ava suddenly thought of someone. "Was that woman beautiful, elegant, and about 5'6"?"

"Yes," the doctor said. "She was very beautiful and elegant, and her height matches."

Ava guessed it was Mia. 'Why did Mia hit William? Was it because of the surgery?' she wondered.

The doctor examined Ava and, after confirming Ava was fine, left the room.

William emerged from the bathroom, his eyes still heavy with fatigue, but he looked relaxed. He moved slowly toward the bedside, the weariness evident in his every step.

"Ava, did the doctor just come by?"

Ava nodded. "Yes."

She gently touched the uninjured side of William's face. "William, why didn't you tell me Mia hit you?"

William lowered his head, silent.

"William, look at me. Don't avoid my gaze."

William sighed and looked up. "Ava, I didn't want you to worry. She didn't do it on purpose. I chose the surgery plan to keep you and the baby safe. She was angry, thinking I didn't care about your life. I understand her feelings. Terminating the pregnancy would have been the safest option for you."

Ava said sadly, "You should have told her it was my choice. I asked you to do this."
