Chapter 494 Emptiness and Loneliness
Ava was stunned.
The warmth left by William lingered at the corners of her mouth, leaving her momentarily at a loss.
He actually kissed her, catching her off guard.
However, as she gazed upon the contentment and joy radiating from William in her arms, like a child savoring a sweet candy, she found it hard to blame him.
It wasn't William's fault either. After all, he truly regarded her as his wife. Kissing her was a very normal thing for him. If she reacted too strongly, it would definitely upset him.
Ava glanced at the time, then lowered her head and said to William, "William, you must be hungry, right? I'll prepare something for you to eat. What would you like?"
William thought for a moment. "I don't remember what I like to eat, but I love whatever you prepare for me."
William smiled brightly.
Ava nodded. "Then I'll buy you something later. You have to eat properly, no being fussy, okay?"
When she spoke to William, her voice was as gentle as a summer breeze rustling through the leaves.
William nodded obediently. "Okay."
Ava covered William with the blanket. "I'll be back soon."
William held her hand tenderly, reluctant to let go. "I'll wait for you."
Ava gently withdrew her hand and turned to leave.
Suddenly, William called out to her, "Darling."
Ava turned around. "What's up?"
William smiled, "Nothing. I just suddenly wanted to call you. It feels like we've missed out on a lot, and I don't want to be apart from you at all."
Ava smiled gently, "I'll be back soon."
After Ava left the ward, she gave some instructions to the guard at the door.
William stared at the closed door, a sudden profound sense of emptiness and desolation enveloping his heart.
He looked around at the unfamiliar surroundings, feeling like he had fallen into an icy cave, cold and lonely, his mind blank.
Apart from Ava, he couldn't remember anything else. She was the sun around which his entire world revolved.
Less than a minute after Ava left, William felt like crying.
No, he couldn't cry.
William stubbornly wiped away the tears at the corner of his eyes.
He was brave, refusing to cry, for Ava would return soon, and he feared nothing.
As Ava arrived at the hospital entrance, a tall and thin figure suddenly jumped in front of her. "Hey, Ava"
Ava was startled and took a few steps back in succession, almost stumbling.
Eason quickly held her. "Are you okay?"
Ava steadied herself, patted his shoulder lightly, and said with some anger, "You scared me. Why did you suddenly jump out?"
Eason sheepishly scratched his head. "I'm sorry, I am so happy when I saw you, and wanted to give you a surprise."
"A surprise? It felt more like a shock." Ava shook her head helplessly. "Considering you're younger thanme, I'll let it slide this time, or else I'd have to give you a piece of my mind."
Eason laughed like a big boy. "Thank you. I won't scare you like that next time. Where are you going now?"
"I'm going to buy some food. By the way, why are you here?" Ava asked.
Eason said, "I came to see you. I've been worried about you all this time. So, I couldn't help but come and check on how you're doing."
Observing Eason's concerned expression, Ava was touched. "Don't worry, I'm fine now. William has regained consciousness, and everything is heading in a positive direction."
