Chapter 719 Waiting Until Nine O'Clock

William and Eason lay on the bed, waiting for Ava to come back.

"Where did Ava go?" William asked.

He wanted to make a call, but his phone was on the couch.

Just as he was about to get up, the nurse walked over sternly. "Don't get up."

William frowned. "I'm the one paying your salary. You have to listen to me."

"Now it's your wife paying the salary," the nurse shot back.

Ava made it clear before she left.

William said, "Let me get up. My wallet is on the couch. I'll give you all the money in it. We'll keep it a secret from Ava."

"I'll tell Ava," Eason clutched the blanket. "If you get up, I'll tell her. If you collude with the nurse, I'll tell her too."

"Eason, are you out of your mind? Do you want to lie here forever?" William felt irritated.

Eason pouted, saying, "What's so bad about lying here? I feel quite comfortable. The bed is so soft. The VIP room is really different, it's more comfortable than my home. And besides, I have you to keep me company."

"You..." William was furious.

He was really afraid Ava would be mad at him.

She made it clear before she left.

The nurse said, "You two better stay here."

William helplessly stared at the ceiling and let out a long sigh.

Seeing William's displeasure, Eason smiled smugly. "Oh, it seems Ava was prepared for this."

"What are you so smug about?" William scolded, "It's all your fault, why did you have to pretend and do all this?"

"You blame me?" Eason looked innocent. "Why would you blame me? I didn't do anything."

"Wasn't it you who bit your tongue?"

'And you have the nerve to say you did nothing?' William completed the next sentence in his mind.

"Oh, you mean that," Eason said, "Weren't you having a headache? Can't my tongue feel uncomfortable too? You're being too domineering. In fact, you started this."

"I started this?" William clenched his fists under the blanket. "It's clearly all your fault."

Eason shook his head. "No, it's all your fault."

William roared, "It's your fault!"

Eason stubbornly said, "No, it's all your fault."

"It's all your fault."

"It's clearly all your fault!"

They argued like children, the more they argued, the less rational they became, and the more chaotic the scene got.

The nurse shook her head helplessly, pulled up a stool, and sat by the door, starting to daydream.

The sky was gray, and Alexander turned his head to look out the window.

A cool breeze lifted the curtains.

He got out of bed and walked to the bedside, reaching out his hand, feeling the dampness in his palm.

It started to drizzle outside.

A clock hung on the wall, he turned his head to check the time, it was already 7:30 PM.

Alexander thought, 'Didn't Mia say Ava would come?'

'But why have I waited for her all day, and it's already dark, yet she still hasn't come?'

'I don't want to see her,' he had thought so from the bottom of his heart before. Even when Mia said Ava wanted to see him, he still resisted, even wanting to use death to escape.

But still, he couldn't help but think, 'I should see her one last time.'

'Even if I'm to die, I want to see her one last time. This is my last time waiting for her.'

But time passed second by second.

Time was like the wind, impossible to grasp.

She didn't come.

A sense of loss and despair overwhelmed him.

'Ava will never come.'

'She's a liar.'

'She doesn't care about me anymore.'

Alexander stumbled back to the hospital bed and sat down.

It was just getting dark, he would wait a little longer, until 8:30 PM.

'No, I can wait until 9 PM.' Alexander thought.

He was still hopelessly holding on to one last bit of hope.

He stared at the clock on the wall, watching the hands move second by second.
