Madison smiled bitterly, "Of course I know. Ava thinks I did it, even though she has no evidence. But I understand, you don't want her to suffer. If I take the blame, Ava will definitely feel better. If she's okay, you'll feel better too. I'm willing to do anything for you. But I hope that after I confess, you let Emily go. She has nothing to do with this. I can be wronged, I can go to jail, but Emily did nothing wrong."
Madison looked at him with tear-filled eyes, "Alexander, I just hope you can be happy in the future, that's enough for me. Anyway, I know I'll lose you no matter what. When you broke up with me last time, I knew you didn't want me anymore."
Madison's tears kept falling, "But I still love you. I'm willing to do anything for you. Alexander, send me to jail, then go tell Ava you believe her, that it was indeed me. Maybe then you two will reconcile. I'm willing to be your stepping stone."
Alexander looked at her in silence. After a long time, he sighed softly, "Why do you have to do this? If you really didn't do it, there's no need to confess."

He believed Madison loved him.
Since she loved him, how could she bear to hurt Scarlett?

He had to find out the truth about Scarlett, and he couldn't completely ignore what Ava said.

Alexander said, "I'm sorry for calling you here so late. Let me take you back."
"Alexander, I can stay with you. I don't feel comfortable leaving you here alone."
"I'm leaving too. After Grandma's death, no one will live here. Let's go." Alexander pulled Madison up and left the villa.
