Chapter 560 It Was All Yours

Ava furrowed her brow and changed the subject. "Where's Isabella? How is she doing?"

She thought that mentioning Isabella, the woman he cared about, would cheer him up a bit. In the very least, she was hoping he wouldn't pass out. Still, Alexander forcefully turned his eyes away, coldly saying, "She's lying in the hospital bed, taken care of every day by someone. I haven't seen her in a long time."

"Really? Why not?" Ava asked.

Although she didn't want to bring up Isabella, she had to find a topic to chat with him to keep Alexander awake. She thought, 'Grandma has only this one grandson, so if something happens to him, she will definitely be worried.'

"Because I find myself unable to resist longing for you, I can't see other women," Alexander replied.

Ava gripped the steering wheel tightly. "You talk quite amusingly. You want to have multiple lovers at the same time."

When he married her, he was entangled with Isabella. Now, they were divorced. He could be with Isabella, but now he was trapped with his ex-wife. It showed that he wanted to be with multiple women at the same time.

Men always wanted more.

"Yes." Alexander self-mockingly smiled. "I am indeed too greedy, and now I am paying the price, losing the person I most wanted."

"Isabella is the one you most wanted. Since you decided that from the beginning, don't regret it. Regret is useless," Ava replied mercilessly.

"Yes, it's useless. Ava..."

Alexander called Ava but didn't say anything else.

Ava was driving and couldn't look at him until the car turned onto a less crowded road. She turned her head to glance at him.

"Alexander?" She found Alexander had closed his eyes.

Ava quickly reached out and gently pushed his body.

"Alexander, don't fall asleep."

However, Ava couldn't wake him up. She pondered, 'He is in such a serious condition. Does he even know how to take care of his stomach properly?'

Ava accelerated the vehicle and took Alexander to the nearest hospital.

After arriving at the hospital, the doctor examined Alexander and found that he had drunk too much at once, causing a stomach perforation that required immediate surgery to repair.

Alexander lay on the hospital bed, being pushed by medical staff towards the operating room.

"Ava, Ava!" he called out.

"I'm here." Ava followed beside his bed.

"If I die, everything will be yours; you don't have to worry; no one will compete with you," he said.

Ava said seriously, "Don't say such things. The doctor is just fixing your stomach. You'll be fine. I'll wait for you outside."

"Ava." Alexander struggled to raise his hand, wanting to touch her.

Seeing that he was about to enter the operating room, Ava held his hand. "You'll be fine."

"Ava, will I really see you after I come out?" Alexander asked.

Ava nodded. "Yes."

"Can you guarantee that I'll see you?" Alexander was like a child with no sense of security.

"I promise I'll be waiting for you outside," Ava replied.

"Patient's family, please stop here. You can't go in anymore." There was a red line outside the operating room corridor, and family members could only wait outside the line.

Ava and Alexander's hands slowly drifted apart; she watched as the doctors pushed the bed into the operating room until the heavy door closed, and Ava sighed.

Just then, Ava's phone rang. She took it out and saw it was Scarlett calling. Ava thought, 'Grandma must have known about the wedding incident. Her friend would definitely inform her, perhaps even blaming her for the situation.'
