Chapter 785 Can't be Stubborn

"Yeah, that makes sense," Scarlett nodded. "It's their call. But I think they will. They grew up together and like each other."

Scarlett smiled, looking hopeful, then yawned, clearly tired.

"Are you sleepy?" George asked. "Mom, lie down and rest."

"Alright, I'll take a nap. I can't keep up with you anymore," Scarlett chuckled.

"Mom, you still have many years ahead."

Scarlett laughed. "I don't expect to live that long."

They chatted a bit more, then Scarlett lay down and fell asleep. Mia and George quietly left the room.

"I'll call Alexander," Mia said, pulling out her phone.

"Will he answer?" George asked.

Last night, Mia had texted George to say Alexander was fine. Even though Mia wanted a divorce, Alexander was still their son, and she needed to keep George informed.

"He has to."

Mia wasn't sure if Alexander would answer. She dialed and waited until he picked up.

"Mom, I need some time alone. Can you..."

"Your grandma is sick," Mia interrupted.

"What did you say?" Alexander's tone changed. "What's wrong?"

"She has Alzheimer's. She forgets a lot. She even thinks you and Ava aren't married yet."

"Which hospital?" Alexander asked immediately.

Ethan had just set lunch on the table when he saw Alexander dressed to go out.

"Where are you going? Lunch is ready."

"My grandma's in the hospital. I need to go."

He took a few steps, then clutched his chest in pain, stumbling. His injuries were still severe, and he wasn't fully healed.

Ethan quickly asked, "What happened to your grandma?"

"She's in the hospital. I need to get there."

"You can't drive like this," Ethan said. "I'll take you."

Alexander nodded. "Thanks."

Ethan drove Alexander to the hospital. As soon as they arrived, Alexander rushed inside while Ethan parked the car.

Seeing Alexander safe, George and Mia sighed in relief.

"How's Grandma?" Alexander's face was pale. Seeing him like this, Mia felt a pang of sadness. He looked even more haggard and thinner.

"The doctor confirmed she has Alzheimer's. Her memory is failing."

"I want to see her," Alexander said, heading to the ward.

"Wait," George stopped him. "She's asleep. You should wait."

Mia added, "When she wakes up, don't say anything rash. She's experiencing memory loss, and her sense of time is mixed up. She still thinks you and Ava aren't married. Just go along with her, okay?"

Alexander nodded. "I understand."

Suddenly, Alexander looked dazed. "I need to tell Ava. I need to contact her."

He had been resentful towards Ava before. But now, he knew he had to reach out. This was an emergency; he couldn't be stubborn.

Alexander reached for his phone. Mia quickly grabbed his hand. "Wait."
