Chapter 789 Thoughtful Care

Ava stayed in the hospital for about ten days before getting discharged.

She was five months pregnant, and her belly was already quite prominent.

She got tired after just a few steps and spent most of her time in bed.

William took great care of her, handling all her daily needs.

He even offered to help her bathe, but Ava refused. She managed on her own or got help from the maid. William didn't push it.

After dinner, Ava sat on the bed and suddenly wanted to call Scarlett.

It had been a while since she last called her.

Even though the Mitchell family said they were still family after her divorce from Alexander, things had become distant. It wasn't on purpose; it just happened.

When she called Scarlett, Mia answered.

"Mom, why is it you?" Ava recognized her voice right away.

"Ava, what's up?"

"Mom, I want to talk to Grandma. Why do you have her phone?"

"I'm at your grandma's place. She can't come to the phone right now."

"Is Grandma sick?"

"Yes. Now that you're out of the hospital, I can tell you."

Mia explained the situation to Ava.

Ava felt really sad after hearing it.

Seeing her upset, William quickly asked, "Ava, what's wrong?"

"My grandma is sick. I need to go see her."

"What illness does she have?"

"Alzheimer's." Ava wiped her tears. "I need to go see her."

She started to get out of bed.

"Ava, don't get too worked up." William held her by the waist.

"Don't stop me. I have to go."

"I'm not stopping you," William said. "I'll drive you there."

How could he stop her? Ava always doubted him. Whenever something happened, she didn't trust him.

Seeing the hurt in William's eyes, Ava felt a bit guilty. "I'm sorry, I misunderstood you."

"It's okay, I understand. Let's go, I'll take you there."

William picked Ava up from the bed.

"William, it's okay. I can walk by myself."

"It's fine, I'll carry you."

William carried Ava to the dressing room to change clothes.

Seeing William's expression, Ava asked, "William, what's wrong? If you don't want to go, it's okay. The driver can take me."

"It's not that, Ava. I just have a question."

"What question?"

"If you see Alexander there, what will you do? I'm afraid you'll be sad. You've already had health issues because of him, and I'm really worried."

"William, right now I'm only worried about Grandma. Even if I see him, I probably won't say much to him. Don't worry."

"What if he apologizes and wants you back?"

"William, we've already agreed that I won't divorce you. You don't need to worry. Besides, when I went to see him, I made it clear that if he didn't call me, it meant he didn't want his child. He hasn't called all this time. His choice has made me very disappointed. Even if he wants to reconcile, it's impossible."

A satisfied smile appeared on William's lips. "Alright, Ava, I believe you. Please don't let me down."

He gently held her hand, kissed it, and almost knelt on the ground.

"I can't live without you. You're all I have now."

He gently rested his forehead on her knee, humble and helpless.

Ava's heart softened. She raised her hand and gently stroked his hair. "I won't abandon you. I will keep my promise to you. No matter what happens, as long as you don't agree, I won't divorce you." She firmly assured him.

William had done so much for her. This was the least she could do for him.
