Chapter 444 You were Selfish
"Ava, he cursed at you!" Alexander couldn't allow another man to curse at her.
Ava turned to look at William. "That's right. I am this kind of person. You saw it with your own eyes."
She held Alexander's hand. "Even though we are divorced, my heart is still with him. I can't control myself. This is my own choice."
Ava's hand was trembling, which broke Alexander's heart, and he held her tightly in his arms.
He knew the purpose of her words was to prevent them from fighting again. So, Alexander didn't say much.
He intended to confront William in private afterward, away from Ava's eyes, to ensure she wouldn't be troubled by their affairs.
Alexander's embrace, to Ava, felt like thorns.
However, she couldn't push him away. Otherwise, her previous words would ring hollow.
"Ava, you have deeply disappointed me!"
What truly devastated William were the words spoken by Ava.
Her lingering affection for Alexander was undeniable; he could not ignore it. His eyes witnessed it, his heart felt it. Ava's love for Alexander never waned.
Therefore, she shielded him, unreservedly so.
With a slamming door, William departed.
The moment William left, Ava promptly pushed away Alexander.
"Are you satisfied now?" Ava asked.
"Ava, I understand you spoke up for him out of a protective instinct. However, you are also protecting me. Tell me, between William and me, whom do you truly choose?"
"Shut up!" Ava burst into the room, picked up the coat and shirt Alexander had taken off, thrust them into his arms, and forcefully pushed him towards the door. "Get out. I don't want to see you!"
With a powerful shove, Ava pushed Alexander out despite his reluctance to leave. Fearing he might inadvertently hurt her by resisting, he yielded to her strength and continued to step back obediently.
"Ava, can we go home? Come home with me. I can overlook what happened between you and William as long as you two get divorced!"
He didn't care about anything now. The situation had already escalated to this point, and there was no point in blaming anyone. After all, he had a complicated history with Isabella before, and now he just wanted to start fresh with Ava.
"Shut up. You have no right to care or not care. Alexander, you have no right. Get out. I don't want to see you anymore!" After pushing him out, Ava slammed the door shut.
Alexander clenched his fists and knocked on the door forcefully. "Ava, open the door. Let's talk. I'm begging you!"
"You, leave, just leave me! Alexander, are you incapable of understanding simple human speech? I do not wish to see you, truly, I do not."
"Open the door; let me in; at the very least let me accompany you."
"I do not need your company! Alexander, why are you so self-absorbed? You claim to love me, I do not believe it at all. You love only yourself and your own feelings, without regard for mine!"
Ava's voice choked with tears.
"Ava, how could you say such things? I laid bare my heart for you to see, and you dare to say I do not love you!"
"If you love me, why haven't you left? You've got what you wanted, so why are you still here?"
"What I want is not just that, Ava. I desire all of you, and everything about you!"
Ava felt her whole world crumbling. "You once had all of me, why didn't you cherish it? Now you want everything, why should I give it to you? You know very well I do not want to see you now, you know how much pain I am in, why do you not leave? You simply revel in my suffering. Alexander, you are so selfish!"
