Chapter 1085 In Her Hands
Hailey smiled and said, "Mom, what are you talking about?You don't even look 50 yet. You'll always be young."
She linked her arm with Mandy's.
"Your sweet little mouth really knows how to flatter."
Mandy was indeed pleased, "You really know how to say sweet talk. Hurry inside; what if you start feeling unwell again?"
"Alright, let's go in."
Hailey gave Brandon a look, her eyes glancing towards the door, as if telling him to leave quickly.
Brandon said, "Mom, since Hailey is fine, I'll head back now. I'll visit you next time."
Mandy said, "It's so late. Since you're already here, why not stay the night and leave tomorrow?"
"Mom, it's a long way from here to the office. I'd better head back now. You two should also get some rest."
"Alright then," Mandy said, "Take good care of yourself. You used to work so hard you ended up in the hospital. Don't try to do everything yourself; let your subordinates handle some tasks, okay?"
"I'm already trying to do that. See, I'm perfectly fine now."
Mandy raised her hand and gently patted his arm. "Alright, you're really strong, and Hailey is doing well too. It's just a pity about your elder brother, passing away so early, but at least I still have you two."
When she mentioned her eldest son, a wave of sadness washed over Mandy's face.
Hailey immediately changed the subject. "Mom, let's go inside."
"Alright, let's go in." Mandy turned to Brandon and said, "Brandon, be careful on the way. Let me know when you get home safely."
"I will. I'll be off then."
With that, Brandon got in his car and drove away.
Hailey linked her arm with Mandy's. "Mom, what kind of nightlife are you having? It sounds exciting. Why don't you tell me about it?"
"You wouldn't be interested in it."
"Mom, how do you know I'm not interested if you don't tell me? Just tell me."
"Hailey." Mandy suddenly stopped, looking at her with a more serious expression.
"Mom, what's wrong?"
Mandy raised her hand and gently stroked her face. "Why do you always let yourself be wronged? If I don't stand up for you, won't you just keep suffering in silence?"
Hailey could guess what Mandy was hinting at. Mia must be in Mandy's hands.
"Mom, I'm not wronged at all. I'm very happy being with you now."
"Are you really happy? Not even a little bit wronged?"
"Mom, how could I still feel wronged since it's been so long? I just want to spend time with you now. After all, you are the most reliable, while man can't be trusted."
Saying this, Hailey hugged Mandy and leaned on her shoulder playfully.
Mandy smiled and said, "I don't know how long I can protect you, but I'll deal with anyone who makes you feel wronged."
Hailey frowned. "Mom, what do you mean by that? No one is making me feel wronged."
Mandy smiled and said, "Brandon drove here alone so late, without even bringing a bodyguard. He rarely did that. He must be really anxious."
