Chapter 665 Talk to Her

"Although I'm her ex-husband, you should have done your research. Ava and I have known each other for ten years. Even after our divorce, we're still family. I'm more reliable than William. You can deal with me directly; there's no need to go to William."

"Really? But I already contacted him in the middle of the night yesterday and told him about Ava's situation. He seemed pretty freaked out and said he'd do anything to get Ava out. Sounds like he's more anxious than you, her ex."

"You contacted William?" Alexander frowned.

"What, you don't believe me?"

Alexander's breathing became rapid.

He thought, 'William! He has agreed to notify me if the kidnapper calls, but he ended up not telling me anything.

'But it's within my expectations. It's a futile hope to rely on William to share information. He prefers to keep everything to himself.'

"I believe you. If you want to play a twisted game, I can play along, but Ava's safety must be assured."

"Hahaha." The man suddenly burst into laughter. "Finally catching on. I'm glad you don't talk to me about money. It's too vulgar. I love it when people play games with me; it's much more thrilling. Money is just paper."

When Alexander heard the man's laughter, he knew he was dealing with a pervert. The gruesome state of the dead kidnappers was proof of that. Such a person might not care about money.

A pervert uninterested in money would only be interested in twisted games. For him, torturing others could bring a thousand-fold more pleasure than money ever could.

"Mr. Mitchell, so you're willing to play a game with me?"

"That's right, I am," Alexander said. "What do you want?"

"Let me think about it."

"Let me hear Ava's voice so I can know she's okay. Otherwise, how do I know if she's dead or alive?"

If Ava was dead, he would search the entire world to make this man's life a living hell.

"No problem." The man walked over to Ava with the phone and said, "Your ex-husband wants to talk to you. Tell him you're fine."

Ava bit her lip and said nothing.

She couldn't believe Alexander had canceled his wedding with Isabella. He must have lost his mind.

He had divorced her initially to marry Isabella, and now, at the last moment, he had canceled the wedding. It was both insane and ridiculous.

She didn't want Alexander to save her. She didn't know what this pervert would do.

And this pervert's words were unreliable. Even if Alexander played his so-called game, he might not let her go. He reveled in the desperation of others, just as he had done with those kidnappers. He had made a promise to them and then blatantly broke his word.

"Ava, are you okay? Don't worry, I will get you out."

Ava stared at the phone screen, tears streaming down her face. She closed her eyes and turned her head to the side, clenching her teeth tighter and tighter without a word.

"Ava, why aren't you speaking? You bastard, what have you done to Ava?"

"Maybe it's what you have done to this woman,"  the man sneered. "She doesn't even want to talk to you."

"Ava, say something. Tell me how you're doing now, please?" Alexander's voice carried a hint of a sob.
