"Really? It seems like William doesn't care much about you, either. He didn't even take you to the hospital for a check-up to see what's wrong with you. Every time I see you, you look weak and lifeless, as if something has drained all your energy."
Ava ignored him and kept walking.
Alexander continued, "I'm serious. You do look off. You appear weak, while it looks like you've gained weight. You really should get a proper check-up."
If they were still married, he would have many reasons to take her for a check-up. However, now that they were divorced, no matter how much he wanted to, he couldn't force her.
Ava was afraid of being found out. She was with a more than three-month baby now, so it was normal that she had gained weight. However, she was worried that Alexander might suspect something, so she explained, "Really? I weighed myself yesterday and actually lost two pounds. Maybe it's just bloating."
Hearing Ava explain so seriously, Alexander couldn't help but feel that something was off. "Really? Considering William's current state, you still have the mood to weigh yourself?"
"There's a scale in the hospital, so I just weighed myself there. Is there a problem? Do I have to conform to your logic in everything I do?" Her voice involuntarily raised.
"Ava, have you noticed that you are a bit agitated? What are you trying to hide?" Alexander really wanted to know. He wished he could take this woman back home and interrogate her thoroughly.
He had many ways to win her back and get everything he wanted.
However, he had hurt her too much, so now he didn't dare to do anything. Otherwise, she would only end up hating him more.
Ava concealed her guilt and smiled, "Yes, I am hiding something. William is so good to me. I'm happy with him, and I've gained weight because of happiness. I'm afraid that if I tell you that, you'll go crazy. So, I'm hiding it."
Alexander's eyes dimmed slightly. "Ava, answer me one question."
Hearing his commanding words, Ava snorted, "Why should I answer you?"
"When was the first time you had sex with William?"
Regardless of whether Ava wanted to answer or not, he asked directly.
Ava furrowed her brows. "Are you crazy? How can you ask such a question?"
"What's wrong with that? Since you're married to William, you must have had a sexual relationship. I really want to know when you started sleeping with William. Was it after our divorce, or did you cheat on me during our marriage?"
Either answer would break his heart.
Sometimes, he would have nightmares, dreaming of Ava being pinned down by William, enjoying herself. Then he would wake up in pain, filled with anxiety and despair all night long.
The woman who used to belong to him, the one he could do anything to, had now become another man's wife.
"I refuse to answer the boring question. Please stay away from me." Ava were a bit agitated. She hurriedly tried to go upstairs, but her steps needed to be more steady. She accidentally stepped into a space, lost her balance, and almost fell. However, Alexander quickly support her with the hand.
"Are you sure you want me to stay away from you? After marrying William, you need help even when you climb the stairs. I don't think he has brought any benefits to you."
