Chapter424 Always Listening

After sending the text, Ava asked, "What did you send?"

Vicky raised her phone in front of Ava. Ava saw the message and frowned. "Why did you send this? He'll be worried."

Just then, Vicky's phone rang, and it was William calling.

Vicky proudly showed her phone to Ava as if to say, "See?"

She answered the call on speaker.

"Vicky, what's going on? Where's Ava?"

William's voice sounded somewhat angry.

"William, where are you? Why didn't you answer our calls?"

"You answer my question first! Where's Ava?"

"I'm here," Ava spoke up.

"Ava, what's wrong? Are you okay?" William asked, concerned.

"I'm fine. You didn't answer our calls, and Vicky sent you that message."

William's tone turned cold. "Vicky, that's not funny."

"I wasn't joking!" Vicky said, feeling wronged.

"William, don't be mad at her. We were worried when you didn't answer our calls. Where are you now?"

Ava's voice immediately softened William's tone. "You don't need to worry about me. I'll take care of myself."

"No, let's meet. I have something important to tell you."

"What is it? You can tell me now."

"No, I have to say it in person. I must see you."

She needed to see William to be at ease.

William sighed, "Alright, I'll come pick you up."

"Don't bother, Vicky and I will come to you. Just tell me where you are."

Vicky drove Ava to the place where William was.

He wasn't at home but at a private bar.

The bar was small, discreetly located, exquisitely decorated, with no dazzling lights or loud music, and only William was inside.

It turned out that William had opened this bar with his own money, not to make money but to have a place to sit when he was upset.

The bar didn't need to be big, just a cozy little space.

He had it located in a secluded place because he wanted to attract only a few customers, but it still became a secret hideout for many. However, the bar wasn't open tonight because William wanted to be alone, and the bartender was there to make drinks for him.

"William, you opened a bar and didn't tell me your secret hideout. How could you?"

William, who seemed to have had a few drinks, gave her a cold glance, "It's none of your business."

William waved at Vicky, indicating that she should move aside.

He looked at Ava, and his gaze instantly softened. "You had something to tell me? Go ahead."

He emptied his glass, then placed it on the bar. He rose from his seat, adjusted his suit, and walked toward her. "I'm listening."

He was always listening to her.

Ava stared at him. The soft light above the bar, shining on William's slightly intoxicated face, added a touch of profound coldness to his chiseled features.

He looked hazy and charming.

Vicky stood aside, letting the handsome bartender make her a cocktail. She leaned against the bar, her eyes fixed on Ava and William, suddenly realizing how well they seemed to fit together.
