Chapter 661 For Fun?

"I know it's about her safety," Alexander said. "Otherwise, I wouldn't have called you. Since the kidnapper hasn't called you, there's no point dragging this on. I'm hanging up now."

"Wait a minute," William called out to him.

"What's up now?" Alexander said impatiently.

"If the kidnapper calls you again, please tell me!"

Alexander said, "Same goes for you. If the kidnapper calls you, you need to contact me. Anyway, for Ava's safety, the more help we get, the better. Let's put our past grudges aside until she's safe."

"Alright," William said. "It's a deal. Whoever gets the latest news must inform the other."

After hanging up, William angrily slammed his phone to the floor.

"Alexander, I don't believe a word you say."

Time ticked by, second by second.

Until midnight, Alexander hadn't slept.

Nighttime was a good time for a deal; perhaps the kidnapper would call him then.

So he waited like this, staying up all night without sleep.

By dawn, he still hadn't received a call from the bodyguard, nor from William.

If the kidnapper had contacted William, it was possible that William wouldn't tell him. Even if he called William to ask, he wouldn't get any answers.

If William insisted on not telling him, asking wouldn't help. If the kidnapper hadn't contacted William, calling him wouldn't help either.

Alexander rarely experienced such a state of unease. He knew he had already lost Ava and couldn't get her back. He was in pain and felt helpless, but at least she was safe then. He felt the heartache alone, which he brought upon himself.

But now, Ava was in danger and her life was at stake. He couldn't imagine the torment she was enduring. Therefore, he was terrified. If possible, he would rather trade his life for hers, as long as she could come back safely.

"Ava, are you okay now?"

Alexander looked up at the solitary moon outside the window and prayed sincerely, "God, or whatever deity, I don't know if you really exist or not. If you do, please, protect her. I'll do anything."

Alexander was originally an atheist, but at this moment, he had no choice but to pray to what he had never trusted.

At noon, when the sun was at its brightest, the door to the room opened and startled Ava, who rose from the chair.

The masked man walked towards her, causing Ava to retreat in fear.

The man grabbed her arm and yanked her hard. "What are you hiding from?" he asked.

"What do you want?" Ava was terrified. She felt like a lamb to the slaughter, completely at his mercy. And he could do whatever he wanted. She wasn't stupid enough to think he wouldn't hurt her.

Through his black mask, Ava forced herself to meet his eyes, seeking some truth in them. But all she saw in his bottomless black eyes was an inscrutable darkness. All she could feel was endless fear.

The man took out a pair of handcuffs and cuffed her hands.

"What do you want?" Ava said angrily. "You brought me here without telling me your purpose. Do you just think this is fun?"
