Chapter 895 Suspecting This
William never saw it coming that Ava would be suspicious.
"Ava, I wasn't planning on recording anything. But he just kept saying crazier stuff, so I secretly manipulated the phone in my pocket and caught that one line. He said even wilder things, but I didn't get those," William explained.
He grabbed her shoulders, looking all sincere, "Trust me, I wasn't trying to set him up. If I wanted to mess with him, I would've recorded everything from the start, the whole convo."
"Ava, please, believe me. I swear, I'm not lying," William pleaded.
Ava gently pushed him away, her voice raspy, "Okay, I believe you."
Even if she didn't, what could she do? Even if William twisted things, Alexander's words were still true.
Whatever, she was just so tired.
Despite being exhausted, Ava kept going to class. She didn't want to miss out, she had to keep pushing.
Today, she zoned out in class a bunch of times.
Finally, the day’s classes ended, and William came to pick her up.
"Ava, how was class today?" William asked.
"It was alright," Ava replied. "I just couldn't focus, maybe 'cause I've been feeling down lately."
"Ava, do you want a longer break? I can arrange to postpone your classes," William suggested.
"It's fine," Ava said. "I want to keep going, I don't want to waste time."
No matter how much she rested, she still felt miserable, it was pointless.
Seeing her insist, William didn't push it. After taking Ava home, he made dinner for her himself.
Ava ate absentmindedly, barely touching her food.
"William, I'm really tired and want to sleep early. Let the servants take care of Sunny, I might not get up."
William nodded, "Alright, you go rest. I'll handle Sunny, don't worry."
Ava nodded and went back to her room.
William checked the time, it wasn't even seven yet.
These past few days, Ava had been like this, spaced out and distracted.
William knew she needed some space and didn't bother her.
He stayed in the nursery with Sunny.
"Sunny, your mom's in a bad mood. I feel for her, but I don't want to bug her. It's all Alexander's fault. He messed up her life. Why did he have to show up and cause trouble?" William said, clenching his fists.
"Sunny, remember the name Alexander. He's bad news. He hurt your mom. When you grow up, don't let him off easy," he added.
Suddenly, William heard a car engine starting outside the window.
He figured someone was heading out.
Thinking it was a servant, he walked to the window with Sunny in his arms and saw that the car driving away wasn't one the servants used.
He immediately got a bad feeling and rushed to Ava's room, finding it empty.
William panicked and quickly called Ava.
She picked up fast.
"Ava, where are you driving to?" William asked.
Ava said, "Don't worry, I just need a drive to clear my head."
"Why didn't you tell me? I could've gone with you," William said, worried.
"I need to be alone for a bit. I'll be back soon," Ava replied.
"Where are you going?" he asked, still uneasy.
"William, don't ask. I just need some space. Don't worry, I'll be home in two hours," Ava replied.
"Alright," William said. "I'll call you in two hours."
Ava responded, "Thanks for taking care of Sunny. I appreciate it." She hung up.
William held Sunny, feeling uneasy, and asked, "Sunny, where's your mom going? I'm really worried about her."
"I'll go find her in two hours." He gently kissed Sunny on the forehead, sat on Ava's bed, and looked serious.
