Chapter 1102 The Way It Used to Be
Ava stared at William, noticing that he seemed to have lost some weight.
Sensing her gaze, William turned and said, "Ava, what are you doing standing there? Come over and sit for a while."
Seeing William's easygoing demeanor, Ava thought about when she first met him.
Has he really changed and gone back to how he used to be?
The divorce has been good for him.
Sitting next to William, Ava felt awkward. She smiled and said, "William, can you watch Sunny for me? I'll go help Vicky in the kitchen."
With that, she walked into the kitchen.
"Vicky, let me help you."
"What's wrong? Not chatting with William?" Vicky seemed to notice something in Ava's eyes.
Ava smiled, "There's not much to talk about. We just got divorced not long ago. It's quite awkward. Let me stay here."
"Alright then." Vicky didn't say much more.
The two of them busied themselves in the kitchen.
Seeing Ava's silence, Vicky moved closer and whispered, "What's wrong?"
Ava shook her head, "I'm fine. How's William been lately?"
"He's doing quite well, but I think, given the divorce, he must be feeling bad inside."
Ava didn't know that they were cousins. Since they were already divorced, Vicky decided not to tell her.
If she told her now, it might cause unnecessary trouble.
If Ava knew she was part of the Smith family, she might not be able to handle it.
"Vicky, if William has any bad emotions or if anything happens, let me know."
"You're still worried about William, aren't you?" Vicky asked.
Ava nodded, "No matter what, we're still friends, and he's helped me a lot."
Seeing Ava's serious expression, Vicky sighed softly, thinking it would be better if they weren't cousins.
Later, when dinner was ready, they all ate together. William held Sunny the entire time, reluctant to put him down.
Sunny was very happy being held by William. After all, William had taken care of him for so long. He was very familiar with William and felt safe in his arms.
The three of them chatted about trivial matters, just casual conversation, making the atmosphere very harmonious.
After dinner, William handed Sunny back to Ava and then helped her clean up the dishes.
He insisted on doing so, and Ava didn't stop him. He sat on the couch, chatting with Vicky.
William washed the dishes slowly, but no matter how slow, he eventually finished.
Afterwards, William took off his apron.
"Vicky, we should head home."
Vicky glanced at the time; it was getting late.
"Yes, Ava, William and I will head out now. We'll visit you again next time."
Ava stood up holding Sunny, "Alright then, I'll walk you to the door."
At the door, William reached out, "Can I hold Sunny one more time?"
"Of course." Ava handed Sunny to him.
Holding Sunny in his arms, William smiled gently, "Sunny, I have to go now. Be good and listen to your mom. I'll come see you again."
He kissed Sunny lightly on the forehead, his eyes filled with love and tenderness, like a doting father.
Then, William handed Sunny back to her, "Ava, Vicky and I will head out now. We'll visit you next time."
Ava nodded, "Text me when you get home."
After seeing them off, Ava closed the door and returned to the living room with Sunny.
She sighed softly and then looked at Sunny in her arms.
"Sunny, William really cares about you, but he's not your biological father."
"I want to find some time to talk to Alexander about you, but he has Madison with him now."
"Let's talk about it later."
