Chapter 630 Sarcastic Tone
Mia hurriedly arrived at Ava's house.
Ava greeted her at the door. Seeing her aggressive demeanor, she felt a bit nervous. "Mom, what's the matter?"
Mia brushed past Ava with a cold face. "Where's William?"
Ava suddenly realized that something was wrong. She quickly followed. "Did something happen?"
Mia stopped and turned her head. "Nothing, I just came to see you. Why are you so nervous?"
Ava answered, "I'm worried because you don't look well."
"Indeed, I'm not feeling great. I might have encountered some issues at work, so I'm in a bad mood. Sorry about that." Mia smiled. "Let's go inside."
As soon as Mia entered, a voice came from upstairs. "Ava, I've finished reading those documents."
William came downstairs and saw Mia. He was stunned for a moment, then said, "Mia, nice to meet you."
Ava had already told him about Mia's situation, but didn't expect her to come so quickly.
Mia looked William up and down. "I heard you had an accident before, but you seem to have recovered well."
She stepped forward and continued, "This is our first official meeting. Actually, I'm not just Ava's ex-mother-in-law, I have known your father for a long time. We are friends."
William smiled and said, "Oh, I see. My father must have mentioned you before, but I have lost my memory and don't remember much. I'm trying to recall everything."
Mia nodded. "Yes, you should try to remember. Otherwise, taking something that doesn't belong to you wouldn't be good."
Hearing Mia's sarcastic tone, Ava felt a bit worried. "Mom, how have you been lately? We haven't seen each other for a while. Is everything okay?"
"Everything's fine," Mia said, "But ever since you remarried, you haven't been in touch with us much. I thought you were going to cut ties with the Mitchell family."
"How could that be? I've just been very busy lately. I'm sorry, I'll make sure to stay in touch more often."
Mia smiled faintly. "Don't be so nervous. I'm not blaming you. I know you have your own life now. As long as you're comfortable," She continued, "I'm a bit hungry. Is lunch ready?"
Ava said, "It's ready. Let's have lunch."
Ava led Mia to the dining room, and they chatted while eating.
"Ava, how's your baby?" She glanced at her belly.
Ava instinctively looked at William.
"Why are you looking at him?" Mia asked, "The baby isn't his. Does he not know you're pregnant? Did I accidentally spill the beans?"
William said, "Mia, I already know about Ava's pregnancy. No matter whose child it is, I will treat it as my own."
"That's good," Mia said, "When you two got married, Dalton knew that Ava was carrying Alexander's child. I know a bit about him. It wasn't easy for him to let you two get married. He always prioritizes his interests, even in his children's marriages. He must get what he wants from it."
They suddenly fell silent.
Mia looked at Ava. "What's wrong? Did I say something wrong? Oh, I almost forgot that Dalton is your father-in-law now. I shouldn't speak ill of him. I apologize."
