Chapter 1014 He Had Already Caused the Damage

Ava was getting more and more shocked as she listened.

Vincent kept going, "That's why I think you're right not to trust Alexander. He jumped to defend another woman without a second thought. How can he say he loves you? Real love means being on your side, no matter what. Whether you're right or wrong, he should be there for you first. Plus, it's not your fault; you're a victim too."

Ava's nose started to tingle, and she rubbed it hard before saying, "I didn't think you'd notice all this."

"Me neither," Bishop said, with a slight smile. "Back then, I felt nothing, totally calm, like all my emotions were gone. But when I saw Alexander treating you like that, I got so mad. I wanted to punch him, but I was like air; he couldn't see me, and I couldn't do anything. I just watched you fall and cry."

Bishop's voice was full of regret.

Ava felt both sad and touched. "Thanks."

She hadn't expected Bishop to see her side of things. Even lying in the ICU, he knew it wasn't her fault. But Alexander never asked her; he just blamed her for hitting Madison.

Alexander never changed. Even though he said he loved her, he always protected other women. There was always someone else between her and Alexander.

"Why are you thanking me?" Bishop asked.

Ava replied, "Because at least you saw it wasn't my fault. At least someone knows the truth." Not just her alone.

Bishop said, "Ava, don't let yourself be mistreated. If being with a guy makes you uncomfortable, you need to stay away from him, no matter how good he seems to be."

Ava couldn't help but think of Alexander and William.

Alexander hurt her, but William treated her well. But somehow, she didn't feel comfortable with either of them.

It was obvious why she didn't feel comfortable with Alexander. After all, he divorced her for Isabella. It didn't matter who was right or wrong; he had already caused the damage to her.

But even though William treated her well, sometimes Ava still felt something was off. She knew she might be overthinking it. Given how good William was to her, she should be happy. But she always felt William's kindness was a bit unreal.

Ava thought it over and decided she might just be overthinking.

Seeing Ava's conflicted expression, Bishop seemed to guess what she was thinking and said, "Ava, trust your gut."

Hearing the words "trust your gut," Ava fell silent, wondering if she could. Sometimes she couldn't just follow her gut; she was always thinking about others' feelings.

"You have to go to college, right?" Bishop asked. "I heard some of your conversation with William at the door."

Ava nodded. "Yeah, I'm here for a graduate exchange program, but I've taken a leave of absence."

Bishop said, "Cancel your leave and go to class tomorrow."

Ava asked, "But what about you?"
