Chapter 1022 He Accompanied Her
The sky was getting darker by the minute.
Ava's IV drip had run dry.
She needed to use the bathroom.
Just as she got out of bed, Alexander was right there, ready to help.
Ava pulled away from him, keeping her distance, "I can handle it myself, thanks."
She carefully made her way to the bathroom, shut the door, and locked it.
Alexander just sighed and shook his head.
A bit later, Ava came out of the bathroom.
She had freshened up and got back into bed.
"I'm going to sleep now. You should head home," Ava told Alexander.
Alexander didn't say a word and just plopped down on the couch.
"You go ahead and sleep," he said, picking up a magazine and flipping through it.
Seeing his stubbornness, Ava knew she couldn't change his mind, so she turned her back to him.
Alexander put down the magazine, snuck over, and gently pulled the blanket over her before heading back to the couch.
Late at night, Ava's phone rang; it was a video call from William.
Ava glanced at her hospital gown and then around the room.
William would definitely notice she was in a hospital and freak out.
Just as she was about to get out of bed, Alexander came over with a jacket.
It was her own jacket.
Seeing his blank expression, she took the jacket from him, and he went back to the couch like nothing happened.
Ava didn't have time to overthink it. She quickly put on the jacket, sat on the edge of the bed, and answered the video call.
In the video, she made sure the wall was behind her, trying to keep the rest of the room out of sight.
As soon as the call connected, a cute baby face filled the screen.
William's voice was excited, "Sunny, look, it's Mommy! Say 'Mommy!'"
Sunny's big, curious eyes stared at the screen.
But Sunny was still too young to talk. It'd be a few more months before he could say Mommy.
"Sunny," Ava's eyes filled with tears the moment she saw him. The distance between them broke her heart.
She should've kept Sunny with her.
The more she thought about it, the more she regretted it, but it was too late now.
William said, "Ava, Sunny and I are back now. Don't worry, he's doing great. How are things on your end?"
Ava replied, "Everything's fine here, no need to worry."
William added, "Ava, once you finish your studies, we can all be together again."
Seeing William's handsome face on the screen, Ava felt a pang of unfamiliarity.
Thinking about the video Alexander had shown her, she felt a lump in her throat.
Why would William do something like that?
William asked, concerned, "What's wrong, Ava? You seem out of it. Are you feeling okay?"
Ava replied, "No, I'm fine."
To keep William from noticing her pale face, Ava had turned on a beauty filter, so she looked pretty good.
"I just miss Sunny," she added.
It seemed like a believable excuse. William seemed to buy it.
"Ava, I know you miss Sunny. Don't worry, I'll video call you every day so you can see him, and I'll take good care of him."
Ava asked, "William, are you sure you won't come to Stellaria before I finish my studies?"
