Chapter 1224 Whose Child Is It?
Ava looked at the situation in front of her, it didn't seem like a peaceful meal was possible anymore.
Mandy clearly had bad intentions.
"Sorry, I just remembered I have something to do. You guys take your time with lunch, we'll be leaving now."
Ava held Sunny and started to get up.
"Wait a minute," Mandy called out to her, "The dishes haven't even been served yet, why are you leaving? Are you afraid I'll eat you?"
"Sunny is tired, I need to take him back early. Whatever it is, we can talk about it next time." Ava tried to control her temper.
Mandy's sharp gaze fixed on her, and after a few seconds, she suddenly changed her aggressive stance, smiled, and said, "I haven't even had a chance to see my great-grandson yet. Before you leave, can I hold him for a moment?"
Ava looked at Sunny in her arms and hesitated for a moment.
"What are you afraid of? I'm not going to eat him. His father is my grandson, isn't it natural for me to hold him?"
Mandy stood up and came over to Ava.
Bishop immediately pulled Ava behind him protectively, his sharp eyes fixed on Mandy as if she were an enemy.
Mandy laughed, "Is he your bodyguard? Why does he look like he's ready to eat someone?"
"He's my friend."
"Friend? Doesn't look like it." This man had an air of danger about him.
"What's wrong with me holding the child? Are you not going to let me? That's a bit unreasonable, isn't it?" Mandy frowned, showing her displeasure.
After hesitating for a moment, Ava walked over to Mandy and said, "Alright, you can hold him for a bit."
Mandy took Sunny into her arms.
She was quite skilled at holding the child, gently rocking Sunny in her arms, and smiling, "So cute, he even looks a bit like William."
Mandy turned around with Sunny and sat back down in her chair. Without looking up, she said to Ava, "You can leave now."
"Give Sunny back to me," Ava stepped forward to take Sunny.
But Mandy avoided her and immediately signaled to her bodyguards.
Two bodyguards stepped forward and blocked Ava.
Ava's brow furrowed, "What are you doing?"
"You can leave, but the child stays."
"Mom, what are you doing?" Hailey realized something was wrong.
Mandy said, "This is my great-grandson, of course, he should come home with me. He can't always stay with his mother, that's too unfair."
Ava had been holding back, but now she was very angry, "Give Sunny back to me."
Mandy remained calm, "Why are you so nervous? I'm not going to eat him, I want to take him home to see his father."
Bishop's eyes were on the two bodyguards, assessing their strength and planning to snatch Sunny back as quickly as possible.
"This is not William's child," Ava said angrily, "Give my child back to me!"
Mandy's face showed surprise. "What did you say? If it's not William's child, then whose child is it?"
"None of your business, give him back to me."
Ava tried to rush forward, but the bodyguards blocked her.
Bishop held Ava protectively and warned, "Give Sunny back to her, or I won't be polite!"
"Quite the tone," Mandy sneered, "You're an outsider, don't meddle in our family affairs."
"This is my child," Bishop's face was extremely grim, "I'll say it one more time, give Sunny back to us while I'm still willing to talk nicely."
Hailey was completely stunned.
