Chapter 755 He Needs You
Vicky walked back into the dining hall, acting like she hadn't seen a thing. She kept drinking and chatting with Dalton.
After dinner, it was time for her to head out. But before leaving, she asked, "Dad, how about I stay here tonight and leave tomorrow?"
Dalton chuckled, "You used to always be out and about. Now you want to stay in? I think you should go have fun like you used to."
This was his private place, and Vicky and William usually didn't stay here.
"Dad, are you saying you're tired of me?" Vicky teased.
"Yep, totally," Dalton laughed.
Vicky pouted, looking a bit upset. "I'm your daughter. How can you be tired of me?"
Dalton patted her head. "Alright, alright. I was just joking. Go keep William company; he's probably worn out from taking care of Ava."
Vicky could tell Dalton wanted her to leave. It made sense; he had a woman hidden here. If she stayed and found out, it wouldn't be good.
She didn't argue. 'Not the right time to confront him. Let's take it slow,' she thought.
"Alright then, I'll go. Bye-bye," Vicky said.
Since she'd been drinking, Dalton arranged for a driver to take her back. Whether she went to the hospital, her place, or a nightclub, as long as she didn't stay here, it was fine. He wanted to be alone with Mia.
After Vicky left, Dalton went back to the room. He sat down next to Mia, who was still asleep, exhausted. He pulled the blanket up to her shoulders, sighed softly, and lay down beside her, holding her.
Mia winced as she shifted, trying to get comfortable. Her whole body ached, and even the slightest movement felt like her bones were being pulled apart.
"Mia, my daughter just left. Don't worry, she doesn't know you're here. I didn't let her know because I didn't want to trouble you. See, I'm thinking about you."
He chuckled softly and kissed her on the cheek. Then he switched gears, "Mia, you should visit William when you have time. You yelled at him and hit him today; he must be feeling terrible."
He added, "He's had a tough childhood. I was very strict with him, often hitting and scolding him."
At this point, Dalton suddenly stopped because he clearly felt Mia's body tremble. A smug smile appeared on his lips, and he continued, "Sometimes I beat him until he bled, and he wouldn't make a sound."
"Although Hailey never hurt him, she's not his biological mother. And since Hailey knows he's our child, there's a barrier in her heart. She doesn't care much for him and naturally won't protect him."
"William lacks motherly love. Can you give him some? Be a little kinder to him. If you think I've led him astray, then educate him well and make him a good person. But you need to stay by his side."
"William isn't inherently bad; he needs guidance, and he needs you." Dalton's voice seemed very sincere.
He gently stroked her cheek, saying, "He really needs you."
Although Mia's eyes were closed, tears had already started to fall, soaking the pillow.
After taking a shower, William looked at himself in the mirror. His cheeks were slightly swollen, and the slap marks were still clearly visible. Thinking about Mia hitting him and calling him a bastard and an animal, William clenched his fists in anger.
"Mia, just you wait," he said, furious.
Suddenly, he thought of something. After getting dressed, he carefully left the ward. About an hour later, he returned with a bottle of medicine.
He went into the bathroom, stood in front of the mirror, opened the bottle, and gently applied the medicine to his face with a cotton swab. The medicine was transparent, leaving only a layer of clear residue on his face with no other color. It stung a bit but the pain disappeared after a few minutes.
William stared at his reflection in the mirror, a cold smile forming on his lips.
