Chapter 843 George Called

Mia saw the caller ID flash on the screen, and her heart started pounding like crazy.

She reached out to snatch the phone back, but Dalton held it way out of her reach.

Dalton smirked, "Your hubby's calling. Wanna pick up?"

"Dalton, give me the phone," Mia demanded, her eyes shooting daggers.

Dalton chuckled, "Oh, you wanna answer? Lemme help you with that."

"No!" Mia tried to stop him, but it was too late.

Dalton did it on purpose. He swiped to answer and even put it on speaker.

Mia's face went pale, and soon George's voice came through, "Mia, you asleep?"

Mia's body shook, and she glared at Dalton, furious.

Dalton grinned at her, looking all smug.

He placed the phone by the pillow and leaned in to kiss Mia.

He was definitely doing it on purpose, trying to make her lose it.

Mia shut her eyes tight and used all her strength to push Dalton away.

On the other end, George sounded worried, "Mia, can you hear me? Bad signal?"

"Mia?"

Mia shoved Dalton's head away and said, "I'm here. About to sleep. What's up?"

George replied, "You're about to sleep? Sorry, just wanted to hear your voice."

Dalton leaned in to kiss her again.

Mia slapped a hand over his mouth.

Dalton's lips curled into a wicked grin.

He let out a loud, fake laugh.

George seemed to catch the weird laugh, "Mia, you alone?"

Mia kept her hand over Dalton's mouth and said, "Watching a movie. Need something? If not, don't bug me."

Dalton yanked her hand away, pinning it down, and leaned in to kiss her again.

Mia had to endure it, trying not to make a sound.

George sounded bummed, "What movie? It's been ages since we went to the movies! Let's go next time."

Mia, being kissed by Dalton, couldn't get a word in.

She finally broke free and quickly said, "Got it. Hanging up now. Bye."

She hung up fast.

She didn't want George to hear. If he found out, he'd lose it.

Who knows what kind of mess it would cause.

He might come looking for Dalton to fight, and things would only get worse.

She had to find a way to make Dalton back off, but it seemed impossible now.

"You hung up just like that? Not gonna chat with your hubby a bit longer?" Dalton said with a smirk.

Mia shoved the phone aside.

"Dalton, you should know if the Mitchell family finds out about us and what you've done, you'll be done for. Compared to their wealth and power, you're nothing. They've got three generations of wealth, resources, and power. Way more than you can offer."

Dalton placed his hands on either side of her and smiled, "I don't need any benefits. I don't care how powerful the Mitchell family is. At least I can piss them off. And Scarlett has Alzheimer's. Can she handle the shock?"

Mia trembled with anger.

He'd been digging into her life, knew everything.

Dalton had found her weak spot.

The Bennett family and the Mitchell family were both big deals. If they clashed, it would be a disaster.

Even though the Bennett family wasn't as powerful as the Mitchell family, Dalton had climbed up thanks to his wife. The Bennett family's aggressive growth over the years couldn't be ignored.

She didn't care about Dalton, but she was scared of dragging the Mitchell family into it.

Mia closed her eyes helplessly and said, "Hurry up."
