Chapter 598 Had No Right

Elinor wondered, 'So, what exactly are they doing?'

Alexander remained silent, his expression cold.

Seeing he wasn't going to speak, Elinor put away the menu and said, "Alright, please wait a moment."

After Elinor left, the atmosphere suddenly turned strange. They looked at each other with different expressions. The atmosphere was awkward, desperately needing to be broken.

Isabella said, "Ava, did you know I was discharged from the hospital today?"

Ava smiled faintly and replied perfunctorily, "Really? Congratulations. You seem to have recovered well."

"Yes, it's all thanks to Alex. He went above and beyond to save me and did so much for me. Naturally, I have to try my best to live. Oh, and one more thing, Alex and I are getting married the day after tomorrow." Isabella's face lit up as she spoke the last sentence.

Ava was taken aback. She had heard numerous times that Alexander was going to marry Isabella, even hearing his promises to her directly.

But at this moment, in such a calm and harmonious setting, hearing that they were getting married the day after tomorrow, she suddenly felt an unprecedented sense of reality.

"Congratulations." William smiled slightly. “It seems I need to get you a gift."

William was genuinely happy to hear their impending marriage.

Isabella said, "No need for that. I wonder if you have time to attend our wedding?"

"Attending the wedding is impossible," Ava said, "William and I have other matters to attend to the day after tomorrow. I'll have someone send the gift."

"Ah, I see." Isabella looked disappointed. " What a shame!"

It was just as well that Ava wouldn't be attending, as it would avoid any possibility of Alex backing out at the last moment.

Their conversation became more detached. Alexander occasionally gazed at Ava, and when he looked at William, his eyes turned icy.

Alexander said, "Mr. Bennett, I heard you forgot everything, but it seems Ava is an exception."

William smiled at Ava with tenderness in his eyes. "In this world, no matter who I forget, I will never forget Ava."

"Really?" a hint of doubt flashed in Alexander's eyes. "How nice, you forgot everything but Ava. I wonder if it's a coincidence, a miracle, or if your memory has a mind of its own."

Alexander's words were loaded with insinuation, as if accusing William of pretending.

Despite his amnesia, William could sense the accusation in Alexander's words.

He grasped Ava's hand and placed it on the table, saying earnestly, "She is someone etched in my heart. How could I forget her so easily? Even if I forget everything, I won't forget her. I'm not like those shameful men who like to entangle themselves with multiple women."

The atmosphere grew increasingly tense, and Ava felt uneasy.

Seeing that Alexander was about to retaliate, Ava looked at him pleadingly and subtly shook her head, signaling him to stay silent.

Alexander wanted to strike William down, but deep down, he knew he had no right. He had lost the right due to his own foolishness. Seeing Ava's eyes, filled with pleading for another man and caring for another man, he was overwhelmed, but he could only endure it.
