Chapter 723 Mind in a Fog
The rain had stopped, but inside the car, Ava couldn't stop crying. The sadness was just too much.
Vicky kept trying to comfort her, but it wasn't working.
"Stop crying, it's not good for your baby."
"I know, but I can't help it."
"Ava, I get it, but you've said everything you needed to say to him. The rest is out of your hands. You can't control what he thinks, but you can control what you do. You're having surgery tomorrow, so focus on that. The most important thing right now is your baby."
Ava wiped her tears. "I understand. Thanks, Vicky. I appreciate you taking me to see Alexander. I thought you didn't like him and didn't want me to see him, but you helped me anyway."
Vicky added, "We're good friends. I can't bear to see you suffer. Even if I don't like Alexander, I like you."
"Thanks, really."
Ava was genuinely grateful. She never thought Vicky would help her with something so important.
Even though she didn't get to see Alexander, at least she told him everything.
It was a shame Alexander didn't respond at all.
"Ava, can I ask you something?"
"Sure, what?"
"You and William have a fake marriage. If he gets his memory back and you divorce him, will you get back with Alexander?"
Vicky could tell Ava still cared about Alexander, and these things were hard to predict.
She used to think Ava would never get back with Alexander, but now she wasn't so sure.
Feelings can change, sometimes drastically.
Ava went silent for a moment. Seeing this, Vicky said, "If you don't want to answer, it's okay. No pressure."
"It's not that I don't want to tell you, it's just that things have changed."
"What changed?" Vicky asked.
Ava sighed. "Alexander and I can never get back together. Even though I feel guilty, it's impossible. We've had too many conflicts, and those scars run deep. I can't imagine living with him again, and I'm sure he can't either."
Ava was serious. Even though she wanted to see Alexander and felt guilty, she never considered getting back with him.
"I see. What about you and William?" Vicky pressed.
"Vicky, William and I agreed that as long as he doesn't bring up divorce, I won't either."
Suddenly, Vicky pulled the car over.
"Vicky, what's wrong?" Ava asked.
"So, you're not divorcing William?"
"Yes, we made it clear yesterday."
Ava told Vicky about the agreement she made with William.
After hearing it, Vicky felt the situation was even more complicated.
"You actually agreed not to divorce William? Are you sure about it?"
Ava, confused by Vicky's outburst, asked, "You seem really upset. Do you really want me to divorce your brother?"
"I..." Vicky didn't know how to respond.
