Chapter 409 A Bunch of Nonsense and Irresponsibility
Alexander was silent, his gaze fixed on Ava. Mia, growing impatient, confronted him with a steely gaze, demanding, "Say what you have to say!"
What a nuisance!
George, observing Mia's assertiveness, felt a sudden rush of excitement akin to a fan admiring their idol.
'She's so cool, so dominant. I love her,' He thought.
He particularly craved to be controlled and manipulated by her.
No one would ever think that George, impeccably dressed in his suit, exuding an air of authority, could harbor such wicked and vulgar thoughts.
After all, humans were animals at their core. Despite the ethical constraints imposed by society, the primal animalistic desires that resided deep within sometimes yearned for liberation.
He longed to wield a whip upon others, or perhaps, to be at the receiving end of its lash.
Ava suddenly realized that the bond between Mia and Alexander seemed to have evolved naturally, devoid of the need for deliberate cultivation of affection.
When Mia admonished Alexander, there was no trace of a mother's guilt for neglecting her son.
Despite his mother's reproach, Alexander remained composed, speaking softly with lowered eyes. "Within three days, I will marry Isabella. The wedding gown has been ordered, and preparations are underway. I hope you will be present on our special day. Of course, Ava may choose not to attend, but if she wants to, Isabella happens to be short of a bridesmaid."
A daunting silence filled the room, enveloping all in a stifling atmosphere.
Ava felt dizzy.
Certainly, regardless of what Alexander said. It should not concern her, and she ought not to care. Yet each utterance from this man managed to reshape her perception of him.
The fact that he could articulate such words was astonishing.
Since Isabella conveniently lacked a bridesmaid, he was appointing his ex-wife to the role.
How could he speak so absurdly and irresponsibly?
How could those words leave his lips? How dare he?
Ava, bewildered, was speechless.
"You reckless scoundrel, have you gone mad?" George slammed his hand on the table, pointing at him. "You are well aware that the entire Mitchell Family would never accept that woman, yet you boldly utter this sentiment. Do you hold no regard for any member of the Mitchell Family?"
Alexander remained unusually composed, not even batting an eyelid as he calmly stated, "It is precisely because I hold you all in high regard that I have shared this matter with you and extended an invitation to my wedding. This decision is final, regardless of whether you agree or not, I will marry Isabella."
"You..." George, overcome with anger and confusion, found himself at a loss for words, looking toward Mia, only to find his wife remarkably composed.
Mia dabbed her mouth with a napkin and smiled gently. "Then why haven't you informed your grandmother about this matter? Your grandmother should be here today to hear such astonishing revelations."
Alexander replied calmly, "Considering Grandma's age, it's best not to burden her with this information. I assume you agree.""
Mia's eyes held a smile, tinged with irony, "So, you find your choice embarrassing enough to upset your grandmother."
Alexander calmly responded, "There is nothing truly scandalous. It's just that there is a bias against Isabella among all of you, especially considering Grandma's more traditional views. I simply seek to avoid unnecessary complications. I trust you won't disclose such matters to Grandma, to avoid distressing her."
