Chapter 326 Protecting His Wife
Alexander reached out his arms and gently embraced Ava, lifting her body slightly off the ground. Then he moved the blanket to the side and lowered her back down.
His movements were gentle and light.
Ava was extremely tired and slept deeply, completely unaware.
Alexander was very close to her, with her breath blowing on his face.
Her breath was warm.
Alexander stared at her face, his Adam's apple moving slightly.
His lips brushed against the tip of her nose, whether by accident or intentionally getting close.
Ava's lips lightly moved, her eyebrows slightly furrowed as she turned her body to the side, lying on her side.
Alexander's lips lightly brushed against her cheek as he moved from her nose.
Ava felt something in her sleep, but her tired eyelids couldn't open.
Alexander maintained his embrace on her, hands resting on each side of her, very close to her.
Even the pain in his back seemed to completely disappear at this moment.
Reluctantly, Alexander straightened his body, carefully covering her with the blanket and adjusting the strands of hair on her forehead. He stood by the bed and stared at her for a while.
Until Mia walked over and stood behind him, together they stared at the peacefully sleeping Ava on the bed. They were like guarding a baby.
Later, Mia turned her head and glanced at Alexander.
His gaze was incredibly serious; even Mia found it particularly sweet.
Mia thought Alexander was crazy for wanting a divorce. She raised her hand and waved it in front of Alexander's eyes.
Alexander caught Mia's hand and let go, glancing at Mia before not saying anything, afraid of waking up Ava.
Mia lowered her voice and asked, "What are you thinking?"
Alexander remained silent, turning around and leaving the room.
Mia followed after him.
After the door closed, the two of them arrived in the living room. Alexander spoke first, "What did you do to her last night? Why couldn't she sleep the whole night?"
"You're questioning me?" Mia crossed her arms. "Why do you always think I would mistreat her?"
"Wasn't it you who suddenly made things difficult for her last time?"
"So, because I was difficult with her that time, it means I will always be difficult with her in the future, is that it?"
"You know the answer yourself."
"Yes, I know." Mia was getting a little annoyed. Her good intentions were misunderstood. Of course, she wouldn't be happy.
Alexander only wanted to protect Ava.
"Otherwise, I'll wake Ava up right now, and you can ask her if she willingly came to me, willingly let me mistreat her. Does she enjoy being mistreated so much?"
Mia was about to walk towards the room when Alexander stopped her. "Don't disturb her sleep."
"Then what do you want?" Mia put her hands down, "Are you here just to accuse me, like last time?"
Mia's voice was calm, but it didn't mean she had forgotten what happened last time.
Those words pierced her like knives.
When the previous incident was mentioned, Alexander also froze, but he didn't say anything.
After a long time, he finally said, "I don't want to blame anyone. I just want to know what she did last night and what information you showed her."
"I said she wanted to see it herself. Why would I ask her to look at it?"
In the face of Alexander's accusation, Mia was a little angry, but she wasn't angry at Ava, but at Alexander and even at herself.
How could she not be angry when the relationship between her and her biological son turned out like this?
Seeing Mia's angry expression, Alexander seemed to realize that he had gone too far.
He tried to calm himself down and asked, "What information did she see?"
"It's over there." Mia pointed in a direction. "Go see for yourself."
Alexander walked into the office and saw many documents on the table. He randomly picked up one and glanced through it, then looked at the notes Ava had taken.
