After Hailey returned to her room, she was drenched in cold sweat. She never expected Mandy to do such a thing.

She opened the photo she had just taken again. This should be Mia. What kind of treatment had she endured?

Mandy was really terrifying.

Hailey was startled. She quickly hid her phone behind her back, her eyes wide with fear.

"Mom, why are you here? Why aren't you asleep yet?"

"I was woken up by you. Why aren't you asleep yet?" Mandy stepped closer and said, "It's so late. What were you doing in my room?"

"Mom, what are you talking about?" Hailey said with an awkward smile. "I didn't go to your room. You must have been dreaming."

"Really?" Mandy said, "My phone was face down, but it was face up when I woke up."

"Mom, it's normal to forget small things like that. Why would I go to your room to look at your phone?"

Mandy suddenly grabbed her face. "As my daughter, you can't turn against me. We need to be united. Tell me what did you do!"

"Mom, I really didn't do anything."

Mandy slapped her hard.

"Do you think I can't tell when you're guilty? I'm your mother. How can you treat me like this?"

She extended her hand and said, "Give me your phone."

Hailey was stunned and shocked from the slap.

Mandy had never hit her before. This was the first time. Since it had come to this, Hailey decided to speak up.

"Mom, why did you do this?"

"What did I do?"

"You kidnapped and tortured her, didn't you? Where is she now? Please let her go."

"You!" Mandy raised her hand to hit her again.

Hailey closed her eyes in fear, but the slap never came. Finally, Mandy lowered her hand and sighed.

"Hailey, you're so foolish. We're on the same side. Everything I do is for you. Someone has to pay for the grievances you've suffered. Mia is Dalton's mistress. If it weren't for her, you wouldn't be divorced!"

"Mom, I am the third party. Dalton and Mia were together first, and I came later. Dalton left Mia to marry me. If you really want to argue, I was the one who ruined them!"

Mandy pointed at her fiercely. "You are my daughter. Don't belittle yourself like that. No matter what, you spent over twenty years of your youth."

"Mom, please don't hold accountable for me anymore. It's all in the past. At most, my feelings were in vain, but I've moved on."
